Rowdy Tellez Homers On Saturday

Pittsburgh Pirates first baseman Rowdy Tellez had a big night at the plate in a 4-0 win over the Minnesota Twins on Saturday. Tellez went 2-for-4 with two runs and three RBI to help power the Pirates to the win. The 29-year-old's solo homer came in the seventh inning and traveled 403 feet with an exit velocity of 101.2 MPH. Tellez has struggled to find his power stroke in 2024, hitting just .208 with two homers, 13 runs, and 15 RBI across 144 at-bats. That being said, he's hitting .391 over his past seven games so he could be on the cusp of a breakout in the homer department. While he is hot at the plate, Tellez is worth a look in deep, NL-only leagues as a potential bench player in fantasy.

Bryan De La Cruz Homers In Friday Win

Miami Marlins outfielder Bryan De La Cruz picked up three hits in a 3-2 win over the Cleveland Guardians on Friday. De La Cruz went 3-for-4 with a double and a solo homer to help power Miami to the series-opening win over Cleveland. The 27-year-old outfielder blasted a 432-foot solo bomb off Cleveland starter Logan Allen in the third inning to give the Marlins their first run of the ballgame. De La Cruz is now hitting .252 with 11 homers, 30 runs, 28 RBI, and a steal across 246 at-bats this season. Well on his way to establishing a new career-high in homers (19), De La Cruz has been a nice source of cheap power this season.

Oneil Cruz Serves Up Combo Meal Thursday

Pittsburgh Pirates shortstop Oneil Cruz went 2-for-5 with a three-run homer and a stolen base in an 11-7 loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers on Thursday. Cruz added a pair of runs and three RBI to his line, giving him an excellent evening at the dish. It hasn't been great of late for the talented infielder, who had gone 15 games in a row without a homer and 14 in a row without a steal before this one. Considering those are the two categories that fantasy managers drafted him for, it's been a bit of a disaster lately. That being said, if Cruz can find his stroke he can go on a tear that few other players can, making him a must-roster player even when he isn't doing much well.

Nick Yorke Picks Up A Hit In Triple-A Debut

The Boston Red Sox promoted second base prospect Nick Yorke to Triple-A Worcester on Wednesday and he wasted no time showing off some of his tools, going 1-for-4 at the plate with a walk and a stolen base. The 22-year-old was hitting .251 at Double-A with four home runs, eight stolen bases, and an 18:36 BB:K over 175 AB. The former first-round draft pick had been on a bit of a roll before the promotion, producing five multi-hit games in his last 10 games. Vaughn Grissom was supposed to be the Sox everyday second baseman, but has hit the IL for a second time already this season with a hamstring injury, leaving Emmanuel Valdez and Jamie Westbrook to man the keystone. Valdez is hitting .188 for the season and the 28-year-old Westbrook has six MLB plate appearances to his name, all coming within the last week. Per MLB.com's Top Prospects List, Yorke has an ETA of 2024 to reach the majors, and it looks like there isn't much stopping him from making that a reality.

Jack Suwinski Provides Only Offense In Victory

After being recalled from Triple-A Indianapolis earlier in the day, Pittsburgh Pirates outfielder Jack Suwinski would provide the only offense in a victory against the Los Angeles Dodgers. Suwinski went 1-for-4 on the evening and took Tyler Glasnow deep for a solo home run in the bottom of the third inning to lead the Pirates to their 28th victory. Suwinski has shown power in the past with 50 career home runs, but has struggled this season with a .177 batting average and five homers to go along with 14 RBI and five stolen bases. His time in Triple-A may be what he needed to get going and managers searching for power should watch and see what Suwinski does over the next few days as he could be a solid one-category pickup.
