Jeff Hoffman Earns Save On Sunday

Philadelphia Phillies relief pitcher Jeff Hoffman was called upon to close out Sunday's game against the Miami Marlins. The right-hander struck out one batter while throwing a scoreless inning to earn his sixth save of the season. Normally, Jose Alvarado is tasked with the closer role in Philly. However, he pitched on Saturday, so the Phillies decided to give him the day off on Sunday. Hoffman doesn't see enough save chances to warrant rostering in most fantasy formats.

Ranger Suarez Lit Up For Six Runs

Philadelphia Phillies starting pitcher Ranger Suarez was hit around during Sunday's game against the Miami Marlins. This was undoubtedly his worst start of the season as Suarez was hit around for nine hits and six earned runs in the no-decision. He only lasted 4 2/3 innings and didn't record a strikeout. It was an ugly outing but fantasy managers shouldn't worry too much. These kinds of outings happen, so expect Suarez to bounce back during his next time on the mound.

Aaron Nola Strikes Out Nine On Saturday

Philadelphia Phillies starting pitcher Aaron Nola tossed six innings of three-run ball with nine strikeouts, six hits, and no walks on Saturday afternoon. This is Nola's third start in a row earning a quality start. Nola's first mistake of the day came off a solo shot by Nick Gordon in the second inning. He then kept the Marlins quiet until the seventh, when he allowed two consecutive doubles, which caused the other damage. The 31-year-old now carries a solid 3.43 ERA, 1.04 WHIP, and a 25:99 BB:K ratio with 107 logged innings. Nola is lined up to face the Atlanta Braves on Friday, July 5, in his next start.

Cristopher Sanchez Hurls Complete Game Gem Friday

Philadelphia Phillies starting pitcher Christopher Sanchez (6-3) hurled a complete game shutout Friday in a 2-0 win versus the Miami Marlins with nine strikeouts while allowing three hits (only singles) and no walks on the evening. Along with his first career complete-game shutout Sanchez has been incredible as of late. He accrued a 2.03 ERA in May and followed that up with a 1.61 ERA in June. The two months combined have lowered his season ERA from 3.68 to 2.41 on the season and now lies sixth in the league in the category. The southpaw will look to roll over his dominance to July with a matchup against the Chicago Cubs next week.

J.T. Realmuto Resumes Baseball Activities

Philadelphia Phillies catcher J.T. Realmuto (knee) has been playing catch on the field. Realmuto took dry swings and hit off a tee prior to Friday's game against the division-rival Miami Marlins, and manager Rob Thomson said that the catcher is "progressing well." Working his way back from right knee surgery, Realmuto has resumed baseball activities and will be a candidate to get back behind the dish for the Phillies shortly after the mid-July All-Star break. The 33-year-old star backstop was hitting a healthy .261 (54-for-207) with seven home runs, 20 RBI, and 28 runs scored through 51 outings as Philly's top catcher before going under the knife, but his one stolen base was a major disappointment. Fantasy managers should still be stashing Realmuto in all leagues. Garrett Stubbs and Rafael Marchan are filling in behind the plate, but neither are worth looking at outside of deep two-catcher formats.
