Carlos Estevez Drawing Plenty Of Interest In Trade Talks

The Los Angeles Angels are getting bombarded with interest for closer Carlos Estevez, who may be the best reliever available on the market with Oakland Athletics strikeout machine Mason Miller likely unavailable. Estevez was the American League Reliever of the Month for June, giving up just two hits without a walk in 10 scoreless appearances and putting out 26 consecutive batters during one stretch. After a rocky start to the season, he's also gone 16-for-19 overall on save opportunities. The hard-throwing 31-year-old right-hander was an All-Star in 2023 and is a free agent after this year, making him a prime candidate to be traded away by the Halos before the end of July. Estevez is certainly someone to consider selling high on in fantasy leagues, considering he'd be at risk of losing out on save chances on a contending roster with a more competitive bullpen than that of Anaheim's.

Bryce Harper Could Return On Tuesday

Philadelphia Phillies first baseman Bryce Harper (hamstring) ran the bases at close to 100 percent intensity on Monday morning at Truist Park and said he feels good. Manager Rob Thomson said that Harper could return from the 10-day injured list and play on Tuesday in the series opener against the Los Angeles Dodgers, but it's not a certainty as it is for outfielder/designated hitter Kyle Schwarber (groin). Tuesday is the first day that Harper is eligible to come off the IL after dealing with a low-grade left-hamstring strain. When the 31-year-old former MVP does return, expect the Phillies to ease him back into starting duties at first base right before next week's All-Star break. Harper remains one of the best all-around hitters in the big leagues and will eventually return to a strong .303/.399/.582 slash line with a .981 OPS, 20 home runs, 58 RBI, four stolen bases and 52 runs scored in 287 at-bats this year.

Kyle Schwarber Set To Return On Tuesday

Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Kyle Schwarber (groin) is expected to be activated from the injured list ahead of Tuesday's game against the Los Angeles Dodgers. Schwarber ran the bases 100 percent on Saturday, completing the final step in his injury rehab, and is good to go for Tuesday. The 31-year-old was placed on the 10-day injured list Friday with a mild left groin strain on June 28. Before landing on the IL, he slashed .250/.373/447 with 17 home runs, 49 RBI, and four stolen bases over 367 plate appearances in 2024. Schwarber will provide the Phillies and fantasy managers a power boost when he returns from the injured list early next week.

Bryce Harper Runs The Bases With No Issue On Saturday

Philadelphia Phillies manager Rob Thomson said first baseman Bryce Harper (hamstring) had a good day running the bases. "So good that he's going to do it again on Sunday," said Thompson. Harper was placed on the injured list on June 27 with a low-grade hamstring strain. The 31-year-old is eligible to come off the injured list on Tuesday and is on target to return to action before the All-Star break. Harper is having a terrific season in 2024, slashing .303/.399/.582 with 20 home runs, 58 RBI, 52 runs, and four stolen bases over 336 plate appearances. Kody Clemens will continue to handle first base duties while Harper is sidelined. Clemens is on the deep-league radar after hitting .235 (4-for-17) with two doubles over his last five games.

Trea Turner Hits A Pair Of Homers In Win

Philadelphia Phillies shortstop Trea Turner put on an incredible offensive display, hitting two home runs in Friday's 8-6 victory over the division-rival Atlanta Braves. After hitting a 459-foot two-run homer off Braves left-hander Max Fried to left field to extend the Phillies' lead to 3-0 in the fourth inning, Turner tagged the southpaw once more for a solo shot to push the advantage to 5-2 in the sixth frame. The 31-year-old All-Star infielder has been amazing for fantasy managers when healthy this season, batting a torrid .341 (71-for-208) with seven long balls, 22 RBI, 43 runs scored, and 11 stolen bases over 49 games. Since coming off the injured list on June 17, Turner has hit safely in 14 of his 17 outings.
