Wade Miley Set For Minor-League Start

Milwaukee Brewers left-hander Wade Miley (shoulder) threw two simulated innings on Monday and his next step is to make a start in a minor-league game. A left-shoulder impingement suffered in spring training forced Miley to begin the 2024 season on the injured list, but he's apparently making good progress and could rejoin Milwaukee's starting rotation before the end of April, barring a setback on his rehab assignment. Whether the 37-year-old southpaw requires more than one minor-league start will probably depend on how he fares. While Miley has made a living by inducing weak contact and should have a spot ready for him in the rotation when he's activated, he doesn't give fantasy managers much upside at all.

Oswald Peraza To Start Throwing Wednesday

New York Yankees manager Aaron Boone said that third baseman Oswald Peraza (shoulder) will start throwing on Wednesday and "he should start to build pretty quick from there." It doesn't sound like Peraza will be on the injured list much longer after dealing with a subscapularis strain in his right shoulder. The 23-year-old picked a bad time to be hurt to begin the year with DJ LeMahieu (foot) also on the injured list, which led the Yankees to trade for Jon Berti. Oswaldo Cabrera has gotten off to a hot start while filling in at the hot corner, too, so there may not be any playing time available for Peraza at the big-league level when he comes off the IL.

Max Kepler Back In Lineup Tuesday

Minnesota Twins outfielder Max Kepler (leg) is back in right field and is hitting cleanup for the Twins on Tuesday as they take on right-hander Jakob Junis and the Milwaukee Brewers. Kepler fouled a ball off his right leg on Opening Day on Thursday and missed the previous two games as a result. Thankfully, the injury wasn't too serious, though, and he's back in the lineup for the series opener against Milwaukee. The 31-year-old left-handed-hitting outfielder has been a bit injury-prone in his career but offers some decent power as the team's regular right fielder, at least against right-handed pitching. Kepler went 0-for-4 on Opening Day with two strikeouts before injuring his leg, so he'll be searching for his first hit of 2024 on Tuesday in his return to the lineup.
