Cincinnati Reds relief pitcher Tejay Antone (elbow) is going through a normal spring training this year for the first time in three years. Antone had Tommy John surgery in 2021 and had multiple setbacks since, including one before last season. He also dealt with elbow tendinitis that put him on the injured list at the end of 2023. The 30-year-old right-hander is in camp trying to win a spot in Cincy's bullpen this spring after making just five appearances out of the bullpen for the team last year. Antone debuted in the major leagues with the Reds in the shortened 2020 season but has only thrown 74 2/3 innings over 41 appearances (five starts) in that time, posting a strong 2.41 ERA and 0.95 WHIP with three saves, 31 walks and 94 strikeouts. He has the stuff to be a high-leverage reliever, but expect the Reds to ease him in if he makes the Opening Day bullpen.

Cincinnati Reds rookie infielder Noelvi Marte (hamstring) said the Grade 2 hamstring strain he suffered while playing winter ball feels "good," but the Reds are slow-playing him in camp and he's expected to miss the first five Cactus League games as a result. The Reds are saying there's no reason Marte won't be ready for a full workload by the March 28 season opener. "He's in great shape," manager David Bell said. "He's way ahead of where he could have been." The 22-year-old made his big-league debut on Aug. 19 last year and hit .316 with three home runs and an .822 OPS in 114 at-bats. Marte has an exciting blend of power and speed and is a candidate to hit 25 home runs in his first full season in the big leagues, although he could split playing time at third base with Jeimer Candelario in 2024.

Cincinnati Reds left-hander Sam Moll (shoulder) is the team's only pitcher in camp yet to throw a bullpen session due to shoulder soreness he experienced during his offseason throwing program, but the veteran southpaw has been playing catch and is expected to be ready for the start of the 2024 season. He was one of the Reds' best performers down the stretch in 2023, posting a 0.73 ERA in 25 appearances after being acquired in a deadline trade with the Oakland Athletics. The 32-year-old reliever had a 3.03 ERA and 1.23 WHIP overall in 62 1/3 innings pitched last year with one save, 30 walks and a career-high 68 strikeouts. Moll will mostly serve in a middle-relief role and isn't really on the fantasy radar entering the season.

Cincinnati Reds right-hander Graham Ashcraft (toe) is a little bit behind the other pitchers in spring training after right big-toe surgery in September. He is a few days behind the other starters, but it's mostly about conditioning. It sounds like Ashcraft's toe won't be an issue as he prepares for the start of the 2024 regular season. The 26-year-old should be ready for Opening Day, barring a setback this spring. In his second big-league season in 2023, Ashcraft went 7-9 with a 4.76 ERA (5.06 FIP) and 1.37 WHIP with 52 walks and a career-high 111 strikeouts in 145 2/3 innings pitched over 26 starts for the Reds. He started the season strong before eventually falling apart and needing surgery to close out the season. Despite throwing very hard, Ashcraft's strikeout numbers have left a lot to be desired.

Cincinnati Reds right-hander Hunter Greene is working on a new curveball in camp this year. Last year, Greene used his fastball 54.4% of the time, his slider 40.3% and his changeup only 5.3%. His fastball averaged 98.3 mph in 2023, the slider was 87.3 mph, and the changeup was 91.1 mph. The new curve is in the low-80s. "It's exciting," Greene said. "(I'll) continue to refine it and work on it, but looking forward to being able to have a good offering this season." The 24-year-old has also thrown a split-fingered fastball, but it's unclear how much he'll use those pitches in 2024. The hard-throwing Greene's fastball could be even more devastating with a slow curve to keep hitters honest. He has plenty of fantasy upside, but he hasn't thrown more than 125 2/3 innings in his first two years in the big leagues.
