Tampa Bay Rays first baseman/designated hitter Jonathan Aranda and rookie outfielder Chandler Simpson will not start on Saturday in the Bronx against the New York Yankees and left-hander Ryan Yarbrough. Righty Clarke Schmidt (side) was originally scheduled to start for the Yanks, but he was scratched due to a side issue. Curtis Mead is now starting at first base and batting fifth, while Kameron Misner will start in center field and bat seventh. Jose Caballero is in right field and in the six-hole. Aranda is hitting over .300 so far in 2025 but has gone 2-for-14 with five strikeouts against left-handed pitching, so he'll take a seat. Simpson, who also bats from the left side, is hitting .318 (14-for-44) in his first 11 big-league games, but he hasn't homered while driving in three and stealing three bases. He's just 3-for-15 against lefties.

The Los Angeles Dodgers are calling up infield prospect Hyeseong Kim on Saturday, sources tell The Athletic's Fabian Ardaya. The infielder is on his way to Atlanta after posting an .801 OPS in 127 plate appearances for Triple-A Oklahoma City to begin the season. The 26-year-old South Korean prospect hit .257 (29-for-113) with five home runs, eight doubles, a triple, 19 RBI, 13 stolen bases and 22 runs scored in his 27 games for OKC. Kim hits from the left side and will provide infield depth for the Dodgers for the remainder of their series against the Braves this weekend. He signed a three-year, $12.5 million deal in early January. Kim doesn't have a lot of power at the plate and probably won't play regularly in a loaded Dodgers lineup, but he does have speed to spare and has an excellent glove on the infield, making him worth stashing in NL-only formats for now.

New York Yankees right-hander Clarke Schmidt (side) has been scratched from his scheduled start on Saturday against the division-rival Tampa Bay Rays due to left-side soreness, according to The Athletic's Chris Kirschner. Schmidt said it's minor, though, and expects to make his next start in the Bronx on Tuesday against the visiting San Diego Padres. In his place on Saturday, left-hander Ryan Yarbrough will make the start. The 29-year-old had a promising 2025 campaign but missed three months due to a lat strain, and he also opened the 2025 season on the injured list. The former first-rounder (16th overall) in 2017 out of South Carolina has an intriguing fantasy profile, but injuries continue to get in the way. In his three starts this year, he's been uneven with a 5.52 ERA and 1.43 WHIP with 15 strikeouts in 14 2/3 innings. Schmidt will be a risky fantasy starter his next time out against the Padres, if he makes the start.

The Toronto Blue Jays signed free-agent right-handers Spencer Turnbull and Jose Urena to major-league deals on Saturday, according to the New York Post's Jon Heyman. Turnbull will be the more attractive fantasy option for desperate managers looking for a potential starter. The 32-year-old veteran should get a chance in Toronto's starting rotation sooner than later after posting a career-best 2.65 ERA (3.85 FIP) and 1.05 WHIP with 58 strikeouts and 20 walks in 54 1/3 innings over 17 outings (seven starts) before a lat injury suffered last June prematurely ended his season. There could be short-term upside, but his injury history is extensive. Urena, 33, was recently designated for assignment by the Mets after allowing five earned runs in just three relief innings in 2025. He has worked primarily as a reliever in recent seasons and holds a 4.80 career ERA and 1.40 WHIP with six saves in 11 MLB seasons.

The Philadelphia Phillies have activated outfielder Brandon Marsh (hamstring) off the 10-day injured list prior to their contest against the Arizona Diamondbacks on Saturday evening. In a corresponding move, the Phillies are sending Cal Stevenson to Triple-A. Marsh has been held out of action with a strained right hamstring since April 20. Before his injury, Marsh posted a .095/.220/.167 slash line with just four total hits (one home run). During this slow start, Marsh held a 16:7 K:BB and tallied just five RBI. Under the hood, he generated a low .259 xwOBA with a .159 xBA. Fantasy managers should expect Marsh to have close to an everyday role in center field. However, given his slow start, he should only be targeted in deeper 15+ team formats.
