CJ Abrams Beginning Rehab Assignment On Tuesday

Washington Nationals shortstop CJ Abrams (hip) is starting his minor-league rehab assignment on Tuesday with the Double-A Harrisburg Senators. Abrams is eligible to return from the 10-day injured list on Tuesday, but he won't be ready to return to face the Baltimore Orioles just yet this week. However, if the 24-year-old shortstop looks good in a game or two in the minors, he could be back by Thursday's series finale against the O's. He's trying to recover from a minor right hip-flexor strain. When the former first-rounder returns to the Nats lineup, he'll be carrying a .244/.289/.583 slash line, .874 OPS, four home runs, seven RBI, four stolen bases and six runs scored in his first 41 at-bats of 2025. With Abrams on the shelf, Washington has been using Nasim Nunez as their fill-in at the 6, but he's gone just 4-for-22 in limited action with no homers, two RBI and two steals.

Joe Boyle Named International League Pitcher Of The Week

Tampa Bay Rays right-handed pitcher Joe Boyle has continued to impress at Triple-A Durham and was named International League Pitcher of the Week. On April 19, Boyle tossed six no-hit innings en route to earning his first victory of the season against Scranton. In this outing, Boyle struck out seven batters and served up just two walks. Through three total outings (14 innings), Boyle has struck out 17 batters and held a 1.29 ERA with a 0.93 WHIP. Boyle was given a look in the majors on April 13 and performed very well as he tossed five innings of two-run ball (zero earned) against the Atlanta Braves. Boyle is a name to monitor in deeper formats as the Rays may opt to give the 25-year-old an extended look in the majors if he continues to flash high strikeout upside at Triple-A.

Ivan Herrera Begins Running The Bases

St. Louis Cardinals catcher Ivan Herrera (knee) started a baserunning progression on Sunday as he rehabs a bone bruise in his left knee. In addition to started a running progression, manager Oliver Marmol said that Herrera hasn't had any setbacks while increasing other baseball activities. The 24-year-old has already been out two weeks and isn't expected to be able to return for around another two weeks, so fantasy managers will need to be patient after his hot start as St. Louis' primary catcher. Herrera had gone 8-for-21 with four long balls, 11 RBI and six runs scored before injuring his knee. Fantasy managers shouldn't expect Herrera to keep up that pace all year long, but he's certainly worth stashing until he recovers. Pedro Pages will continue to serve as the primary catcher with Herrera out, with Yohel Pozo backing him up.

Masyn Winn Expected To Be Activated On Tuesday

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch's Derrick Goold reports that St. Louis Cardinals shortstop Masyn Winn (back) rejoined the team in Atlanta on Monday and is expected to come off the 10-day injured list when he's eligible on Tuesday. There was a chance that Winn was going to rejoin St. Louis over the weekend after dealing with a minor case of lower-back spasms, but the Cardinals played it safe and will have him return this week. Fantasy managers will want to check back later on Tuesday to see if he's back in the starting lineup against the Braves. In three minor-league rehab games, the 23-year-old went 2-for-11, with both of his hits being home runs for Triple-A Memphis on Saturday. Hopefully that will get him going at the plate in his return to the big leagues, as he went just 10-for-45 (.222) with a homer and three RBI in the early going before his injury. Thomas Saggese will head back to the bench upon Winn's return.

Daz Cameron Swinging A Hot Bat With Nashville

Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Daz Cameron has enjoyed an impressive start to his tenure in the Brewers system. The Brewers acquired Cameron from Baltimore in exchange for cash considerations earlier in April. Cameron was sent to Triple-A Nashville shortly after the transaction. Through his first seven games with his new club, the 28-year-old has posted an impressive .419/.472/.935 slash line with four doubles and four round-trippers. He has tallied at least two hits in all but two of these games. He enjoyed success at the Triple-A last summer as he held a solid .307/.424/.577 line across 41 games with the Norfolk Tides. He is a name to monitor as the Brewers may look to promote him to the major leagues if he continues to show upside at the top level of the minor leagues.
