Anthony Santander Suffering Through Slow Start To The Season

Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Anthony Santander went 0-for-4 with a strikeout in the team's shutout loss to the Astros on Monday night. The Blue Jays managed just two hits against Hunter Brown and the Astros, but it's a continuation of a rough trend for Santander, who is hitting just .196 this season with a pair of home runs and a .257 wOBA. The Blue Jays gave Santander a big five-year deal in free agency this past offseason, but the 30-year-old switch-hitter has been a big disappointment so far. His hard-hit rate has dropped from 41.4% to 35.7% and his barrel rate from 11.7% to only 4.3% this year, according to Statcast. Santander has gotten off to slow starts in the past in his career and been able to turn things around, so there's still hope he'll be a valuable fantasy asset. He's still a hold in most standard leagues, but you may have to relegate him to the bench until he finds a rhythm.

Wilmer Flores Crushes Key Homer Monday Night

San Francisco Giants first baseman/designated hitter Wilmer Flores went 2-for-3 with a walk and a home run in the Giants' 5-2 win over the visiting Brewers on Monday night. Flores' solo shot in the sixth inning snapped a 2-2 tie and gave the Giants the lead they would hold to the end of the game. The big blast was not only pivotal in securing the win, it also continued a great start to the season for Flores, who now has seven homers in just 23 games after managing just four long-balls in 71 games last year. The 33-year-old is hitting .220 with a .325 wOBA on the year and has been especially effective at Oracle Park, where he has a .360 home batting average and .428 home wOBA on the season. He's worth look if you need power in NL-only leagues or are looking for a short-term fill-in at 1B.

Joe Mack Promoted To Triple-A

The Miami Marlins have promoted catching prospect Joe Mack to Triple-A Jacksonville. Mack is considered the No. 9-ranked prospect in the system on MLB.com. The 22-year-old spent most of the 2024 campaign at Double-A and needed just 13 games at that level this season to prove he was ready for the top level of the minor leagues. This promotion is coming just one day after the Marlins promoted fellow catching prospect Agustin Ramirez to the big leagues. Mack will likely take his spot as the top backstop in Jacksonville. Across 13 games with Double-A Pensacola this season, Mack posted a stellar .318/.464/.614 slash line with four doubles and three long balls. Last summer at Double-A, Mack held a .241/.322/.456 line with 22 home runs across 112 games. He is a name to keep a close eye on as he could push for a second-half MLB debut.

Sebastian Walcott Riding Eight-Game Hitting Streak

Texas Rangers infield prospect Sebastian Walcott is enjoying an impressive start to the Double-A regular season. Over his previous eight contests, Walcott has tallied at least one hit in each game. During this impressive stretch, Walcott has held a .333/.486/.593 slash line with four doubles and one home run. He has held a strong 6:9 K:BB with one stolen base. Before this recent surge, Walcott held a modest .192/.276/.269 line over the first six games of the campaign. Last summer, Walcott spent most of the campaign with High-A Hickory before earning a brief taste of Double-A. At High-A, Walcott posted a stellar .261/.342/.443 line as an 18-year-old. The infielder is currently considered the No. 16-best prospect in the sport on MLB.com. He is a name to closely monitor as he should compete for his MLB debut in 2026.

Michael Soroka To Make Rehab Start On Tuesday

The Double-A Harrisburg Senators announced that right-hander Michael Soroka (biceps) will make a minor-league rehab start for them on Tuesday. This will be Soroka's first rehab start since he landed on the injured list on April 4 with a strained right biceps muscle. The 27-year-old will most likely need at least one other rehab start beyond Tuesday before the Nationals start considering activating him from the IL to rejoin their big-league starting rotation. When Soroka is eventually cleared, the Canadian former first-rounder should rejoin Washington's rotation despite allowing four earned runs while walking one and striking out three in five innings in a loss to the Toronto Blue Jays on March 31 in his only start of the 2025 season so far. When healthy, Soroka doesn't carry a ton of fantasy upside and will merely be a matchup-based streamer in deeper leagues.
