Parker Meadows Still Not Throwing, Resumes Hitting Program

Detroit Tigers outfielder Parker Meadows (arm) is still not throwing but resumed his hitting program on Friday. Meadows continues to work his way back from a nerve issue in his right arm. The 25-year-old was placed on the 60-day injured list in March and is not expected to return to action until May at the earliest. Meadows was shut down from throwing for four weeks in mid-March, and if the timeline stays intact, he could be cleared to throw by next weekend. The former second-round pick slashed .244/.310/.433 with nine home runs, 28 RBI, 39 runs, and nine stolen bases over 82 games in 2024. Fantasy managers should continue to stash Meadows on the injured list, as he's trending in the right direction and will return sometime in May.

Davis Martin Dominates Red Sox In Chicago

Chicago White Sox starting pitcher Davis Martin bounced back from a rough outing in his last start against the Tigers and held the Red Sox to just one run in six innings to get his first win of the season. In his Opening Day start, Martin was excellent in a no-decision against the Guardians, allowing just two unearned runs, but he was thumped for seven runs on nine hits in five innings in his second start of the season. On Friday, though, he was sharp again, allowing just one run on six hits while striking out six and issuing just one walk. He got plenty of run support from the White Sox lineup against Sean Newcomb, and the team cruised to an 11-1 victory to snap an eight-game skid. Martin's next start is also scheduled to come at home at the end of this homestand next Thursday afternoon against the visiting Athletics.

Jung Hoo Lee Smashes Huge Homer For The Giants

San Francisco Giants outfielder Jung Hoo Lee hit his first home run of the season in Friday's rain-shortened win over the Yankees. His three-run homer fueled the Giants' five-run first inning against Marcus Stromen and jump-started their offense in the 9-1 road win. Lee went 2-for-2 with that home run, two walks, two runs scored, and three RBI. He raised his batting average to .340 in his 12 games this season with a .432 wOBA. He has three stolen bases and 13 runs scored with nine extra-base hits compared to seven singles. He had a 41% hard-hit rate last year in his first season with the Giants and has increased that to a 47.5% hard-hit rate so far this season. He's off to a great start to the season as a key contributor to the Giants' 10-3 start to the season.

Marcus Stroman Undergoes X-Rays On Left Knee

New York Yankees right-hander Marcus Stroman (knee) went for X-rays on his left knee after being pulled in the first inning of Friday's 9-1 loss to the San Francisco Giants. According to Yankees manager Aaron Boone, Stroman was sent for testing on his left knee and said his knee was "bugging" him. This could explain Stroman's poor performance on Friday. The 33-year-old allowed five earned runs on four hits and three walks while striking out one over 2/3 of an inning in Friday's loss. Stroman owns an 11.57 ERA, 2.04 WHIP, and a 7:7 K:BB over his first three starts. He is considered day-to-day for now, and his availability won't be known until the X-ray results are available. Fantasy managers can move on from Stroman in most leagues.

Andre Pallante Shuts Out Phillies In Seven Strong Innings

St. Louis Cardinals starting pitcher Andre Pallante allowed just two hits in seven shutout innings on Friday night against the Phillies. He had four strikeouts and two walks to claim his second win of the season. He was locked in a pitcher's duel with Aaron Nola until the Cards broke through for two runs in the fifth inning. He retired the last eight men he faced before handing the ball to the bullpen to close out the Cardinals' big home win over the visiting Phils. Pallante is now 2-0 in his three starts, allowing four runs on 10 hits across 16 1/3 innings with 13 strikeouts. He'll take on the Astros in another tough matchup in his next scheduled start.
