Parker Meadows Cleared To Begin Throwing Program

Detroit Tigers outfielder Parker Meadows (arm) has been officially cleared to begin a throwing program according to the team. In addition to the throwing program, the team announced he has been working on completing conditioning, defensive drills and has been progressing with hitting daily. The 25-year-old was placed on the 60-day IL in March due to a nerve issue in his throwing arm. He's not expected to return to action until May at the earliest. In his absence, expect Zach McKinstry to continue to get the lion's share of playing time. McKinstry has posted up a 124 OPS+ on the short season, making him a strong target for fantasy managers and DFS players alike.

Parker Meadows Still Not Throwing, Resumes Hitting Program

Detroit Tigers outfielder Parker Meadows (arm) is still not throwing but resumed his hitting program on Friday. Meadows continues to work his way back from a nerve issue in his right arm. The 25-year-old was placed on the 60-day injured list in March and is not expected to return to action until May at the earliest. Meadows was shut down from throwing for four weeks in mid-March, and if the timeline stays intact, he could be cleared to throw by next weekend. The former second-round pick slashed .244/.310/.433 with nine home runs, 28 RBI, 39 runs, and nine stolen bases over 82 games in 2024. Fantasy managers should continue to stash Meadows on the injured list, as he's trending in the right direction and will return sometime in May.

Tigers Move Parker Meadows To 60-Day Injured List

The Detroit Tigers moved outfielder Parker Meadows (arm) to the 60-day injured list on Monday to make space on the 40-man roster for recently-signed outfielder Manuel Margot. Meadows is dealing with a nerve issue in his right arm and will be shut down for at least four weeks before he can attempt to throw again. The official placement on the 60-day IL means that the 25-year-old won't be eligible to return to the active roster until late May. It's a tough break for an outfielder that also missed plenty of time due to injuries in 2024, but he finished the year slashing .296/.340/.500 with six homers and five steals in 47 regular-season games after he returned in August. He's strong on defense and was set to open the year as the team's everyday center fielder. With both Meadows and Wenceel Perez (back) out, Margot could see playing time right away in center field in Detroit.
