Philadelphia Phillies starting pitcher Zack Wheeler was excellent on the mound during Wednesday's start against the Colorado Rockies. The right-hander had seemingly no issues outside of Hunter Goodman's solo blast in the seventh inning. Wheeler tossed seven innings, allowing three hits, and striking out 10 batters in the 5-1 victory. To be fair, Wheeler did have a favorable matchup against the lowly Rockies lineup. He did what he needed to do and showed why he is the ace of this staff. We'll see if Wheeler has the same amount of success against a much stronger Atlanta Braves lineup in his next start.

Tampa Bay Rays outfield prospect Chandler Simpson continues to impress, going 2-for-5 with two RBI, a run scored, and a stolen base on Wednesday for Triple-A Durham. One of his hits was a triple where he flashed his elite speed, and the stolen base was his third of the season already after swiping 198 bags over the last two seasons combined. The 24-year-old is now 6-for-22 (.273) to begin the2025 campaign with three RBI, four runs scored, and a 2:2 BB:K. Tampa's seventh-ranked prospecthas beenimpressing with the speed and glove in the outfield as well, as he continues to make his push for a promotion to the major league club. With outfielder Josh Lowe (oblique) hitting the IL already, a few more strong weeks from Simpson could force the Rays to give the speedster a shot. He can also play shortstop if needed, which could help pave the way for playing time. Fantasy managers will want to stay vigilant on this name, as he could be an instant stolen base contributor for fantasy upon his arrival, and would bring his excellent contact skills with him as well.

Los Angeles Dodgers designated hitter Shohei Ohtani collected three hits on Wednesday, including a walk-off home run, to elevate the Dodgers to a 6-5 victory over the Braves. The win brings Los Angeles to a league-leading 8-0 record, while it sent Atlanta spiraling down to 0-7 on the year. The homer was Ohtani's third of the season, and he is now batting .333 with three home runs, three RBI, 11 runs, and two stolen bases through eight games. He continues to show why he is one of the best players to ever step on the field and remains one of the best hitters in fantasy.

Colorado Rockies outfield prospect Zac Veen had a nice day at the plate on Wednesday, going 2-for-5, including a triple along with four RBI, two runs scored, and a stolen base for Triple-A Albuquerque. That makes him 7-for-19 (.368) to begin the season, with three of his seven hits going for extra bases. After a strong spring where he slashed .270/.352/.460 with two home runs, 11 RBI, 13 runs scored, and nine stolen bases in 28 Cactus League games, it seemed like he had a good shot at making the Rockies' Opening Day roster, but was ultimately optioned to Triple-A, which is where he finished last season. In 21 games for Albuquerque in 2024, the former first-round draft pick hit six home runs and swiped six bags, although a 26.1 percent strikeout rate limited his batting average to .220. With continued success, the left-handed slugger should push for a big league debut later this season, and with decent power along with 70-grade speed, the 23-year-old couldmake for an intriguing fantasy asset whenever he gets the call.

Arizona Diamondbacks starting pitcher Zac Gallen looked untouchable on Wednesday, striking out 13 batters over 6 shutout innings in a 4-3 win against the Yankees. The Yankees and their torpedo bats have gained a lot of attention over the recent days, but the bats don't matter if they don't make contact. Gallen collected 24 whiffs on the night for a whiff rate of 57%. His knuckle curveball was the most effective of his pitches, collecting 13 whiffs all on its own. He'll look to carry this momentum into his next start, currently lined up to be against the Orioles.
