The Philadelphia Phillies have agreed with pitching prospect Travis Kuhn on a minor league contract. Kuhn was drafted by the Mariners in 2019 and spent his entire career there before getting released on March 30. He spent the last three seasons at Double-A, where the righty pitched to a 3.54 ERA, 1.32 WHIP, and a 14.6 percent K-BB% over 168 innings of relief. The 5-foot-10 hurler limits the long ball, with a miniscule 0.32 HR/9, but the walks are too high and the strikeout rate isn't as high as you'd hope for reliever pitching at the Double-A level. The 26-year-old will get a fresh start and look to rejuvenate his career with a new club, but he doesn't move the needle for fantasy.

Miami Marlins second baseman Otto Lopez turned in a big game in a 10-4 loss to the New York Mets on Monday. Lopez went 3-for-5 with a homer and two RBI in the losing effort for Miami. The veteran infielder launched a solo homer off Mets starter David Peterson in the first inning, giving him two home runs through his first five games this season. Overall, Lopez has picked up eight hits and notched six RBI across 20 at-bats on the young season. He showed some speed in 2024 as he stole 20 bases in 117 games for the Marlins, which gave him some value as a fantasy asset in deeper leagues. Lopez will look to stay hot as the calendar flips to April.

Washington Nationals outfielder James Wood went 2-for-3 with a homer and a walk in a 5-2 loss to the Toronto Blue Jays on Monday. Wood launched a solo homer off Bowden Francis in the sixth inning to give him his first round-tripper of the young season. The young outfielder is off to a decent start through four games in 2025, picking up four hits including a homer and a double across 15 at-bats. Wood has elite potential as a power/speed threat in fantasy and could emerge as a top fantasy asset if he breaks out this season.

New York Mets left-hander David Peterson picked up the win in a quality start over the Miami Marlins on Monday. Peterson allowed two runs on five hits over six innings while striking out nine and walking three in the win. The veteran lefty looked good in his first start of the season, allowing just a pair of solo homers while punching out nine batters after notching more than eight strikeouts just once across 21 starts in 2024. Peterson will look to keep it going in his next start, which is scheduled for Sunday at home against the Toronto Blue Jays.

New York Mets first baseman Pete Alonso went 2-for-4 with a walk and a grand slam in a 10-4 win over the Miami Marlins on Monday. Alonso launched his first homer of the season off Cal Quantrill in the fifth inning to break the game open and give the Mets a 6-1 lead. The shot traveled 400 feet and had an exit velocity of 105.9 MPH. Alonso is off to a slow start through his first four games of the season as he came into the game with just one hit on the young season. After Monday's performance, Alonso is hitting .231 with one homer, two runs, and four RBI through 13 at-bats. He will hope Monday's performance kick-starts his bat moving forward.
