Bryce Eldridge Resumes Playing

San Francisco Giants first base prospect Bryce Eldridge (wrist) has resumed playing in camp, but the team has not made a decision on where he will begin his campaign. Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay noted that the team may send their top prospect to their Double-A or Triple-A, but wants to be "extremely" careful with his sore wrist. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his status early in the campaign as he begins to increase his workload. Eldridge was drafted with the 16th selection in the 2023 MLB Draft out of James Madison HS. Last summer, he opened the campaign at Low-A but eventually reached Triple-A. Across 116 games in the minor leagues, Eldridge posted a .291/.374/.516 slash line with 27 doubles and 23 home runs. If he were to continue to perform at this level this season, he should push for an MLB debut later in the summer.

Logan Gilbert Fans Eight In Season Opener

Seattle Mariners right-handed pitcher Logan Gilbert got his 2025 regular season off to a fantastic start by throwing seven innings with eight strikeouts, no walks, two hits, and one earned run. His only blemish came against Tyler Soderstrom, who took him 432 feet to dead center. Gilbert was filling up the strike zone consistently, which allowed him to work deep in the game. He threw 60 of his 83 pitches for strikes in this contest. The Mariners' offense couldn't produce enough offense to ensure him the win, so Gilbert walked away from this outing with a no-decision. Gilbert remains one of the top arms in fantasy baseball, and fantasy managers should be encouraged by what they saw in the opener. He will look to build on his momentum in his next start, which lines up to be next week at home against the Detroit Tigers.

Spencer Torkelson Hits A Home Run On Thursday

Detroit Tigers first baseman Spencer Torkelson hit a 423-foot laser to left field off of Alex Vesia in the seventh inning of the Tigers' 5-4 loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers in Thursday's season opener. It was an excellent night for Torkelson, as he got on base in all five plate appearances and went 1-for-1 with four walks, two runs scored, and one RBI. Torkelson spent some time in Triple-A last season working on cutting down his strikeout percentage and getting on base more, so this is exactly what the Tigers and fantasy managers wanted to see to begin his 2025 campaign. He's off to a good start and will look to continue his success Friday and Saturday as the Tigers look to win a few games versus the Dodgers before heading to Seattle early next week.

Vinny Capra Launches First Career Long Ball

Milwaukee Brewers third baseman Vinny Capra went 1-for-3 with a solo shot on Opening Day. Capra was competing for a depth role in the infield during camp and earned the starting nod on Opening Day. In this contest, he struck out once but was able to go deep for the first time in his MLB career off Yankee southpaw Carlos Rodon. During spring training, the 28-year-old posted an impressive .292/.358/.728 slash line. He went six times and added three doubles across 19 contests. Before Thursday's game, Capra appeared in just 20 MLB contests and held a .156/.250/.219 slash line with a 24.3 percent strikeout rate. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his production as he may eventually earn the majority of starts at the hot corner over Oliver Dunn.

Jorge Polanco Goes Deep On Opening Day

Seattle Mariners third baseman Jorge Polanco went 3-for-3 with a home run during their 4-2 victory over the Athletics on Opening Day. Polanco tallied his first hit with a single in the second frame off Luis Severino. In the fourth, he would tally his second single of the evening. He would cap off his performance with a two-run shot in the eighth inning off Jose Leclerc. He would score first baseman Luke Raley with this home run. Polanco played through a knee injury last season, which limited him to just 118 contests. This injury could have hindered his performance as he posted a .213/.296/.355 slash line with just 16 home runs and four stolen bases. He generated a modest .226 xBA and a .399 xSLG. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his production this season, as he tallied at least 35 doubles and 20 home runs twice in his career in Minnesota. For now, he is worth adding in deeper formats as a depth infielder.
