The Philadelphia Phillies placed outfielder/designated hitter Kyle Schwarber (groin) on the 10-day injured list on Friday with a mild left-groin strain. Schwarber could spend the minimum 10 days on the IL, which is great news for the Phillies, especially considering first baseman Bryce Harper (hamstring) also went on the IL on Friday. Groin tightness forced the 31-year-old left-handed-hitting Schwarber out of Thursday night's loss to the visiting Miami Marlins early. As one of the elite power hitters in the game, he must be stashed in an IL spot in all fantasy leagues while he heals up. In the meantime with the All-Star break quickly approaching, Nick Castellanos and David Dahl could see more at-bats out of the DH spot for the Phillies until Schwarber is able to return. Schwarber is hitting .250 (75-for-300) on the year with 17 long balls and 49 RBI in 79 games.

The Philadelphia Phillies placed All-Star first baseman Bryce Harper (hamstring) on the 10-day injured list on Friday with a low-grade hamstring strain, according to sources. Harper could be activated from the IL as soon as July 9, but the Phillies could pad his recovery by another 10 days with the All-Star break in mid-July serving as a natural buffer. Even though his injury isn't serious, losing the National League MVP candidate is a serious blow to the Phillies lineup, especially considering outfielder/designated hitter Kyle Schwarber (groin) was also put on the IL on Friday. Harper injured his hamstring on the final play of Thursday night's loss to the Marlins and hobbled off the field. He has hit .342/.429/.647 since May 1 and has been just as good in June. Obviously, fantasy managers need to keep him stashed everywhere. Kody Clemens (back) is expected to come off the IL and see most of the at-bats at first base against right-handed pitchers with Harper out.

Los Angeles Dodgers infield prospect Austin Gauthier has been swinging a hot bat in his past six games and is becoming a strong candidate to make his major league debut later this summer. In his past six games, the 25-year-old has posted a .389/.560/.444 line with seven hits, four RBI, one stolen base, and a 7:4 BB:K ratio. Gauthier earned a promotion to Triple-A on May 7 and has posted an overall .283/.404/.414 line through his first 42 games at this level. He performed well through his extended look at Double-A the past two summers with a .290/.418/.44 slash line. Gauthier is ranked as the 25th-best prospect in the Dodger system on MLB.com and remains on track to make his major league debut this season.

The Baltimore Orioles placed right-hander Corbin Burnes on the paternity list on Friday and recalled left-hander Matt Krook from Triple-A Norfolk in a corresponding move. Burnes will most likely be away for the rest of the weekend series against the Texas Rangers but should be back to make his next turn in the starting rotation next week against the Seattle Mariners. The 29-year-old has been as advertised in his first year in Baltimore, going 9-3 with a 2.28 ERA and 1.03 WHIP with 99 strikeouts in 106 2/3 innings over his first 17 starts this year. He picked up his ninth win of the campaign on Thursday in the series opener versus the visiting Rangers by giving up just one earned run on nine hits (one homer) while walking none and fanning five in seven innings. Burnes will be a must-start when he returns to the team next week against the first-place M's.

Los Angeles Angels designated hitter Willie Calhoun hit one of the team's three home runs in their 5-0 shutout win over the visiting Detroit Tigers on Thursday. The solo home run was Calhoun's second of the season and was his only hit of the night in four at-bats. He also struck out twice. Injuries have forced the former Texas Rangers prospect into action for the Halos this year, and although he has just two home runs, 11 RBI and 19 runs scored in 150 at-bats in his first year in Anaheim, he's hitting a solid .280 with 12 doubles. The 29-year-old former fourth-round pick by the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2015 out of Yavapai College is making a lot of contact but isn't going to be much of an asset in the power department or for counting stats in fantasy. At best, Calhoun is an AL-only asset.
