Seattle Mariners right-handed reliever Yimi Garcia (elbow) was scheduled to begin throwing this week at the team's extended spring camp after experiencing right-elbow inflammation during his most recent outing on Aug. 19. Garcia told the training staff that the issue felt similar to the one that put him on the injured list in June when he was still with the Toronto Blue Jays, but that it's not as significant. General manager Justin Hollander said the team doesn't have a timeline on Garcia, but they are hopeful he could be back at some point in the final month in September. The Dominican hurler had allowed six earned runs on seven hits while walking four and striking out seven in just nine relief innings with Seattle before his elbow injury. When he's able to return, Garcia will return to a key late-inning setup role in front of closer Andres Munoz.

Seattle Mariners shortstop J.P. Crawford (finger) was back at T-Mobile Park during an off day across the minors on Monday and took part in a simulated game and on-field batting practice. It's possible he'll need another simulated game and/or another rehab game, although High-A Everett and Triple-A Tacoma are both on the road this week. If all goes well, Crawford could return before the M's wrap up their homestand on Wednesday, but all signs point to him returning by this weekend in Anaheim at the latest. He went 1-for-6 over the weekend with Tacoma, playing five innings in the field on Saturday and seven innings on Sunday. The 29-year-old has been out since July 22 due to a right-pinkie fracture. It's his second stay on the IL this year, and he's also hit a disappointing .204 (60-for-294) in 2024 with nine homers, 32 RBI and five steals for fantasy managers.

Seattle Mariners right-hander Matt Brash (elbow), who had Tommy John surgery on May 8, is scheduled to rejoin the team in Seattle during the second week of September, at which point he'll be able to ramp up his throwing program more. Brash also joined his teammates in early August to work with the team's high-performance staff and connect with pitching coach Pete Woodworth and director of pitching strategy Trent Blank. The 26-year-old initially experienced soreness in his second bullpen session in spring training. He had his UCL in his pitching elbow fixed and a brace installed, which should allow him to return faster. It's why the Mariners are hopeful Brash can return in 12 months, potentially as early as next June. Perhaps Brash's elbow was taxed after appearing in a league-leading 78 games in 2023 while posting a solid 3.06 ERA, a 1.33 WHIP, his first four saves and 107 K's in 70 2/3 innings of work.

Seattle Mariners right-handed reliever Gregory Santos (biceps) has resumed throwing at the team's spring training facility in Arizona. General manager Justin Hollander said the team doesn't "have any reason to believe there's a kinetic chain issue" between Santos' latest injury and the right-lat strain that he suffered in spring training that forced him to miss over three months. The Mariners don't have a timeline on if Santos will return before the end of the season. He left his most recent outing on July 31 with right-biceps inflammation. The 24-year-old Dominican flamethrower has only appeared in six games for the Mariners in his first year with the team and has allowed four earned runs on six hits while walking one and striking out five in 5 1/3 frames. Santos has the ability to be an intriguing late-inning arm in the bullpen, but he just hasn't been healthy this year.

Chicago White Sox starting pitcher Garrett Crochet got just four pitches into Tuesday's game against the Rangers before it was ultimately suspended due to rain. The game will resume on Wednesday as part of a straight doubleheader, with Chris Flexen picking up the game and then a bullpen game for Game 2. This is a real shame for fantasy managers, who essentially missed a start from Crochet. Assuming the White Sox stay on schedule otherwise, Crochet's next start would be Sunday against the Mets. The 25-year-old has produced solid numbers this season. However, things have gone downhill for him in the second half with a 6.75 ERA in 21 1/3 innings pitched.
