Chicago Cubs catcher Miguel Amaya had a great day at the plate Monday as his team blew out the Pittsburgh Pirates 18-8. Amaya, batting from the nine spot in the order, went 4-for-5 with two doubles and four RBI. The 25-year-old has been a productive hitting catcher for the Cubs all season but has really taken his game to the next level as of late. Since the All-Star break, Amaya is slashing .342/.381/.570 with four homers and 17 RBI over 26 games. Amaya has hit well enough recently to be considered adding in two-catcher or deep-league formats.

San Diego Padres third baseman Manny Machado had a big day at the plate on Monday as his team beat the St. Louis Cardinals 7-4. He went 2-for-4 with a homer, three RBI, a walk and three runs. His home run was a two-run shot in the first inning against Cardinals starter Kyle Gibson. Machado has had a solid season on the plate but has been exceptional lately. In his last seven games, he is slashing .333/.429/.667 with two homers, six RBI, and a 4:3 BB: K. If Machado can keep this up, he will look to help lead the Padres to an NL Wild Card birth.

Philadelphia Phillies first baseman Bryce Harper had two hits on Monday's game, with one being a walk-off single in the bottom of the 10th against the Houston Astros. In the game, he went 2-for-3 with a double, two walks, and a run scored. Harper, recognized as one of the game's best hitters, has had a slow second half to his 2024 season. Before the All-star break, his OPS was .982, and it has only been .683 since. Hopefully, Harper can use the momentum from Monday's performance to get back on track as the Phillies brace themselves for a difficult September and October ahead.

Detroit Tigers first baseman Spencer Torkelson had three hits in his team's 6-3 win against the Chicago White Sox on Monday. Torkelson officially went 3-for-5 with a double, a homer, and three RBI. His three-run home run was critical, as it came in the seventh inning and gave the Tigers the lead late. The former first overall pick in the 2020 MLB draft has had an underwhelming season at the plate, slashing .220/.286/.376 with only six homers in 63 games (245 at-bats). Torkelson is starting to heat up at the plate, hitting two home runs and logging six RBI over his last five games. Fantasy managers can take a chance on Torkelson (rostered in 40% in Yahoo leagues) due to his power upside.
