Colt Emerson Showcasing Speed At High-A

Seattle Mariners shortstop prospect Colt Emerson has showcased his speed through his first small taste of High-A ball. Emerson has swiped at least one bag in each of his past three games. In the batter's box, Emerson holds a .208/.424/.375 line through seven total games. However, he has reached safely in all but one of them. At Single-A this summer, the 19-year-old posted a stellar .293/.440/.427 line with 25 RBI, 12 doubles, six stolen bases, and a 35:37 BB:K ratio. While he has yet to heat up in the batter's box, his excellent on-base skills have looked just as prevalent at High-A. Emerson remains several seasons away from his major league debut but is a name to keep a close eye on as he sits as the 30th-best prospect in baseball on MLB.com.

Xavier Isaac Beginning To Heat Up At Double-A

Tampa Bay Rays first base prospect Xavier Isaac recently earned a promotion to Double-A and has begun to settle in. Over his past two games, the former first-round selection in the 2022 MLB Draft has tallied four hits, including one double and one round-tripper and five RBI. In his previous eight games at Double-A, Isaac has tallied only five hits with three of them going for extra-bases. Isaac opened the campaign by getting an extended look at High-A ball and held a solid .287/.331/.535 line with 15 home runs, 61 RBI, and 14 stolen bases. The 20-year-old currently sits as the third-best prospect in Tampa Bay on MLB.com and could see time at Triple-A Durham next summer if he continues to progress.

Logan Webb Blanks The Braves For 11th Win

San Francisco Giants right-hander Logan Webb stepped up for the Giants on Thursday at Oracle Park to prevent a four-game sweep at the hands of the Atlanta Braves. Webb was on point to pick up his 11th victory of the season, throwing 7 2/3 shutout innings while allowing four hits, walking one and striking out seven to lower his season ERA to 3.17. The 27-year-old former fourth-round pick in 2014 is on an outstanding run for the Gigantes, allowing only two earned runs on 17 hits while walking six and striking out 25 in 28 innings in his last four starts. Webb had a 20.5% strikeout rate coming into his outing on Thursday, which isn't ideal for fantasy managers, but despite that, he's having another workmanlike campaign in 2024. He'll be a must-start in his next outing against the worst team in baseball, the Chicago White Sox.

Keston Hiura Continues To Dominate Triple-A

Los Angeles Angels infielder Keston Hiura has continued to play very well at Triple-A and could be nearing a return to the major leagues. Since August 1, the former first-round selection holds a strong .275/.383/.575 with four home runs and a 6:17 BB:K ratio. Across his past five games, he has gone deep twice with a .632 SLG. Overall, Hiura has held a .347 AVG through 32 games at Triple-A Salt Lake. His play has yet to translate to the major leagues as he holds a career .235/.313/.445 line in the big leagues. However, if Hiura continues to showcase his raw power, he could be worth a flier in AL-only formats down the stretch run if he earns a promotion.

Bryce Miller Throws Gem But Picks Up No-Decision

Seattle Mariners right-hander Bryce Miller deserved much more than a no-decision on Thursday in an eventual 2-1 loss to the Detroit Tigers at Comerica Park. Miller dazzled by throwing seven shutout innings while giving up only two hits, walking none and striking out nine to drop his season ERA to 3.29. It continues to theme of the Mariners getting excellent outings from their starting pitchers, but with little run support from the offense. The 25-year-old Miller hasn't given up a run in his last two starts, spanning 13 innings, while striking out 15 and giving up only five hits. He's now 9-7 in 2024 with a 3.29 ERA, 1.00 WHIP, 128 strikeouts and only 31 walks in 139 2/3 innings pitched over 24 starts. Even in what sets up as a difficult matchup against the Los Angeles Dodgers next time out, Miller will be hard to keep out of fantasy lineups.
