Jorge Soler Day-To-Day With Hamstring Strain

Atlanta Braves designated hitter Jorge Soler (hamstring) has a mild left hamstring strain. He is considered day-to-day, and he'll stay with the team on their current road trip. It's good news for Soler, who thinks there's a chance he could play for the Braves during this weekend's series against the Los Angeles Angels but will sit Friday's series opener in Anaheim. Manager Brian Snitker may take a cautious approach and sit the 32-year-old veteran slugger until the start of next week's series against the division-rival Philadelphia Phillies. Soler exited Wednesday night's game against the San Francisco Giants as a precaution after his hamstring tightened while he was attempting to beat out a grounder in the fourth inning. Michael Harris II should reclaim his spot atop Atlanta's lineup in games Soler ends up missing.

Christian Yelich's Season Is Over

Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Christian Yelich (back) will undergo season-ending surgery on Friday. Yelich had been attempting a non-surgical comeback from lower-back inflammation, but he's instead opted to have a procedure as treatment for the injury. It's a tough break for fantasy managers and the first-place Brewers, who had both been hoping to get him back into the mix for the stretch run this season. Yelich expects to be healthy in time for the 2025 campaign. The 32-year-old All-Star left fielder's year ends after he slashed an outstanding .315/.406/.504 with 11 home runs, 42 RBI, 44 runs scored, and 11 stolen bases over 315 plate appearances. Sal Frelick and Garrett Mitchell should handle consistent at-bats in Milwaukee's outfield against right-handed pitching the rest of the way.

Jace Jung Promoted To The Major Leagues

Detroit Tigers second base/third base prospect Jace Jung is being promoted to the major leagues according to Evan Petzold of Freep.com. Jung is currently ranked as the fifth-best prospect in the Tiger system and 64th-best in the sport on MLB.com. The Texas Tech product has logged 91 games at Triple-A Toledo this summer and has posted a solid .257/.377/.454 slash line with 14 home runs, 60 RBI, and a 67:93 BB:K ratio. Jung has held a .279/.407/.349 line across his past 11 games. Last summer, Jung split time at High-A and Double-A and held a cumulative .258/.380/.461 slash line with 15 home runs, 63 RBI, and a 71:95 BB:K ratio. Jung is worth a look in all standard leagues, as he should see a majority of the starting opportunities over the final weeks of the season.

Lazaro Montes Enjoying Big August At High-A

Seattle Mariners outfield prospect Lazaro Montes has continued to stay hot in the batter's box in August at High-A. Since the start of the month, the 19-year-old has held an incredible .400/.455/.600 slash line with two home runs, seven RBI, and one swiped bag. In this span, Montes has posted six multi-hit games. Overall, through his first 35 games at High-A Everett, the outfielder has posted a solid .245/.338/.345 line, but his recent surge could suggest the budding star may be turning the corner. Earlier this summer at Single-A Modesto, Montes held a .309/.411/.527 line with 13 home runs through 65 games. Montes has jumped up prospect rankings all summer and now sits as the 48th-best in the sport and third-best in Seattle on MLB.com.

Brayden Taylor Flashing Power At Double-A

Tampa Bay Rays third base prospect Brayden Taylor has begun to heat up at the plate since joining Double-A and is showcasing his power upside. In his past three games, Taylor has gone deep twice and tallied a triple with five RBI and a 3:4 BB:K. Before this, he went 1-for-26 through his first seven games at Double-A. Earlier this season at High-A, Taylor went deep 14 times with 26 swiped bags and a .269/.389/.513 slash line. Since being selected with the 19th overall pick in last year's draft out of TCU, Taylor has progressed quite quickly through the minor leagues. If he continues to develop at this pace, a 2025 major-league debut is not out of the question.
