Jorge Soler Hits Two-Run Home Run On Saturday

Los Angeles Angels outfielder/designated hitter Jorge Soler went 1-for-4 on Saturday, blasting his first home run of the season in the 10-4 win over the Guardians. The veteran drove in two runs, scored twice, and was also hit by a pitch in the contest. The former All-Star has a hit in six of eight games thus far, however, it hasn't amounted to much as he owns a .207-1-3-4-0 stat line with a .285 wOBA and 80 wRC+. Long known not only for his power, but also his ability to draw a walk, the 33-year-old has just two walks in 34 plate appearances, coming in at a 5.9 percent rate, which is his lowest rate since the 2015 season (10.7 percentcareer mark). Hopefully Saturday's home run gets him going, otherwise, fantasy managers who didn't spend much draft capital on him might start looking elsewhere for better production.

Jorge Soler Expected To Hit At Top Of Lineup

Los Angeles Angels outfielder Jorge Soler is expected to hit near the top of the batting order during the 2025 season. Manager Ron Washington said he believes Mike Trout, Taylor Ward, and Soler will be the top three hitters in the lineup. This is an interesting development given Soler isn't your typical top-of-the-order player. This will be Soler's first season in Los Angeles after being acquired from the Atlanta Braves following the 2024 season. The veteran slugger could benefit from possibly hitting in front of Trout in the batting order. Soler doesn't offer a ton from a fantasy perspective, but his power alone does give him value.

Jorge Soler Traded To Los Angeles

Atlanta Braves outfielder Jorge Soler is being traded to the Los Angeles Angels in exchange right-hander Griffin Canning according to Jeff Passan of ESPN. Last season with both the Giants and Braves, Soler held a .241/.338/.442 line with 21 home runs, 64 RBI with a 68:141 BB:K ratio. Canning held an underwhelming 5.19 ERA, 1.40 WHIP with a 66:130 BB:K ratio across 171 2/3 innings of work. Soler should be expected to have a spot in the Opening Day lineup either serving as an outfielder or the designated hitter. Canning will likely compete for a spot in a crowded Atlanta rotation that will welcome back ace Spencer Strider who missed most of the 2024 season due to UCL damage in his throwing elbow.
