The Toronto Blue Jays will start rookie pitcher Yariel Rodriguez against the Boston Red Sox on Wednesday. Rodriguez has made five starts and is (0-2) with a 5.94 ERA and a staggering 1.92 WHIP over 16 2/3 innings, striking out 17 and walking 11. He lasted only 1 1/3 innings against the Guardians on June 21, allowing five runs (four earned) on two hits. Rodriguez has yet to go beyond four innings in any of his starts, so fantasy managers with Red Sox on their rosters should find a place for them and let them feast on the struggling hurler. Rodriquez has shown flashes of potential, but not enough for fantasy managers to keep him on their roster outside deep-league formats.

New York Mets right-hander Kodai Senga (shoulder, triceps) threw a 22-pitch live batting practice session on Tuesday in Port St. Lucie, Fla., marking the first time he's faced hitters since early May. Senga will now fly back to New York with an eye toward potentially throwing another live batting practice session by the end of this week. The 31-year-old Japanese hurler has been out all season after initially landing on the injured list coming out of spring training due to a shoulder capsule strain. He advanced to mound work in late April before being shut down with tightness and nerve inflammation in his triceps. The good news is Senga is trending in the right direction, but he's not going to be ready to make his 2024 debut for the Mets or fantasy managers until after the second half of the season. Fantasy managers must remain patient.UPDATE: Senga intends to begin a minor-league rehab assignment next week, assuming he comes out of one last live BP session on Thursday feeling strong.

New York Mets closer Edwin Diaz is not appealing his 10-game sticky-stuff suspension and will begin serving the suspension on Tuesday night. Diaz will be eligible to return to the Mets' bullpen on July 6 for a contest in Pittsburgh against the Pirates. The 30-year-old right-hander says that he didn't use an illegal substance, but he's not going to bother appealing the suspension and will miss the team's next 10 games. Diaz didn't look like himself earlier this year and then landed on the injured list with a shoulder injury, but he reclaimed the closing gig upon his return and has tossed three scoreless innings with two saves and three strikeouts since returning. With Diaz serving his suspension, the Mets could turn to several pitchers, including Adam Ottavino, Jake Diekman and Reed Garrett, in save situations.

Baltimore Orioles first baseman/designated hitter Ryan O'Hearn and outfielder Cedric Mullins will take a seat on Tuesday against the visiting Cleveland Guardians with a left-hander on the mound. Infielder Ramon Urias is also starting on the bench. Adley Rutschman will serve as the designated hitter and bat leadoff, rookie Colton Cowser is in center field and batting ninth, and Jordan Westburg is playing third and hitting fifth against Guardians left-hander Logan Allen. James McCann is catching and batting eighth. O'Hearn and Mullins typically hit the bench with lefties on the mound. McCann is in the midst of a five-game hitting streak, going 7-for-22 with eight RBI. Mullins has become a part-time player in Baltimore this year given his overall struggles at the plate. He's hitting just .204.

Cleveland Guardians first baseman Josh Naylor will take a day off with a left-hander on the mound on Tuesday versus the hosting Baltimore Orioles. Gabriel Arias will take over at first base and will bat eighth for the Guardians against Orioles left-hander Cole Irvin. This will be Naylor's first day off since May 22. The former 12th overall pick by the Miami Marlins in 2015 has elite power and has already matched his previous career-high with 20 home runs while also driving in 58 runs in 73 games so far in 2024. Naylor has definitely struggled much more against lefties, hitting .207 (18-for-87) with only five of his 20 homers on the year. The right-handed hitting Arias will be a deep sleeper with limited upside in the eight-hole on Tuesday. He's gone just 28-for-130 (.215) on the year with just two homers and four stolen bases.
