Kodai Senga Tosses Five Shutout Innings In Monday's Win

New York Mets starting pitcher Kodai Senga earned his first win of the season in Monday's 2-0 win over the Marlins. Senga pitched five scoreless innings, allowing five hits and two walks with four strikeouts. The 32-year-old has looked strong and healthy through two starts this season after being plagued by injury in 2024 and is now 1-1 with a 1.80 ERA, 12 strikeouts, and three walks in 10 IP. Strikeouts have always been part of Senga's game, but so have walks, so his low count through his first two starts is encouraging. Senga should have a good chance to string together a third consecutive solid outing in his next scheduled matchup at the struggling Braves.

Edwin Diaz Secures Another Save

New York Mets relief pitcher Edwin Diaz was called upon to hold a one-run lead against the Toronto Blue Jays on Sunday. The right-hander had no issues as he tossed a scoreless ninth inning to record his second save of the season. Diaz needed only 10 pitches to finish off three batters as he allowed zero baserunners. It's nice to see Diaz settling down after he struggled with his command during spring training. Fantasy managers can continue safely plugging Diaz into their lineups on a daily basis.

David Peterson Exits Early On Sunday

New York Mets starting pitcher David Peterson (undisclosed) was removed from Sunday's game against the Toronto Blue Jays with a potential injury. The southpaw threw four scoreless innings allowing only two hits. However, Peterson appeared to tweak his back in the fifth inning and that's where it unraveled for him. He walked two batters and hit another batter before Mets manager Carlos Mendoza removed him from the contest. If he's fine, Peterson would be in line to start against the Athletics next week. Fantasy managers should keep an eye out for an update following Sunday's game.

Luis Torrens Remains Out With Forearm Injury

New York Mets catcher Luis Torrens (forearm) will remain out of the starting nine on Sunday when the Mets conclude a series against the Toronto Blue Jays. Torrens was a late scratch on Saturday evening and will remain sidelined for the series finale. The Mets will instead give catching duties to Hayden Senger for the second-straight contest. Fantasy managers should monitor Torrens' status leading up to their next game against the Marlins on Monday evening. With Francisco Alvarez (hand) on the injured list, Torrens has opened the campaign as the primary backstop in Queens. Through his first eight games of the season, Torrens has held a .300/.333/.550 slash line with one home run and two doubles. Senger is not worth targeting in DFS this afternoon, facing Bowden Francis.

Jesse Winker Hits Two Triples, Brings In Two Runs

New York Mets outfielder Jesse Winker went 3-for-4 with two triples and two RBI during their victory over the Toronto Blue Jays on Saturday. Winker would tally his first hit of the contest, with a double in the second inning. Later in the fourth, he would hit his first triple of the contest. In the eighth, Winker would tally his third hit of the contest, with another triple that scored both Francisco Lindor and Juan Soto. After posting a modest .154/.313/.154 line through the first five games of the campaign, Winker was able to break his skid in a big way on Saturday. Last season, the 31-year-old held a .253/.360/.405 slash line with 14 home runs and 14 stolen bases, splitting time with the Nationals and Mets. Fantasy managers should continue to expect Winker to be deployed on the strong side of a platoon at the designated hitter spot. He will likely remain in the starting nine on Sunday to face right-hander Bowden Francis.
