Brandon Waddell Could Start On Wednesday

The Athletic's Tim Britton guesses that New York Mets left-hander Brandon Waddell could start or pitch bulk innings for the team on Wednesday against the Arizona Diamondbacks. Two other potential options for Wednesday include Justin Hagenman and Blade Tidwell, who pitched for Triple-A Syracuse on Sunday. Waddell is the pick over prospect Brandon Sproat because Sproat has struggled in the minors and Waddell hasn't. Arizona has also had much more trouble against lefties in 2025. The 30-year-old Waddell hasn't pitched in the big leagues since 2021, when he appeared in nine games with the Minnesota Twins, Baltimore Orioles and St. Louis Cardinals. In 23 1/3 innings for Syracuse to start this year, he has posted a strong 1.54 ERA and 1.30 WHIP with 21 strikeouts and seven walks. Despite Waddell's strong start in the minors, he won't be a recommended fantasy streamer if he starts on Wednesday.

Ronny Mauricio Tallies Hit, Swipes A Bag In First Rehab Outing

New York Mets infield prospect Ronny Mauricio (knee) went 1-for-3 with a stolen base and a strikeout during his first rehab outing with Single-A St. Lucie on Sunday. The 24-year-old missed the entire 2024 campaign after undergoing ACL surgery. In 2023, Mauricio made his MLB debut and held a .248/.296/.347 slash line with four doubles, two home runs, and seven stolen bases. Earlier in that season, Mauricio spent most of his time with Triple-A Syracuse, where he flashed high upside as he posted a .292/.346/.506 line with 30 doubles, 23 home runs, and 24 stolen bases. Fantasy managers should pay close attention to Mauricio's progress during his rehab outing, as he should be in the mix to return to the majors later this summer. When he returns to the big leagues, he could carry value in category formats, given his power and speed upside.

Jesse Winker Scores Four Runs On Monday

New York Mets DH Jesse Winker turned in a productive day in a 19-5 win over the Washington Nationals on Monday. Winker went 2-for-4 with two walks, four runs, and an RBI in the lopsided victory over Washington. The veteran needed that as he has been off to a slow start in 2025, hitting just .220 with one homer, seven runs, eight RBI, and a stolen base across 59 at-bats. He is starting to show signs of life with a .286 average over his past seven games. That being said, he is off the radar in fantasy outside of the deepest leagues.

Jeff McNeil Hits Three-Run Home Run On Monday

New York Mets outfielder Jeff McNeil hit his first homer of the season in a 19-5 blowout win over the Washington Nationals on Monday. McNeil went 2-for-5 with a triple, a homer, and three RBI to help power the Mets to the win. The veteran has logged just 12 at-bats in 2025 after spending the majority of the season on the injured list while recovering from a right oblique strain, but he's wasted little time catching up as he's hitting .333 with three RBI thus far. McNeil will look to stay hot as the Mets open up a series against the Arizona Diamondbacks on Tuesday.

Mark Vientos Smacks Three-Run Homer

New York Mets third baseman Mark Vientos had a nice day at the plate during Monday's game against the Washington Nationals. Vientos has been hot with the bat lately as he took a five-game hitting streak into Monday's contest. He was able to single and extend that streak, but he also smashed a three-run home run off infielder Amed Rosario who was pitching in the ninth inning. It wasn't too impressive of a homer considering it was off a meatball thrown by a non-pitcher, but fantasy managers will take the points. Vientos is hitting over .300 during the last two weeks and deserves to be rostered in most fantasy formats.
