Mark Vientos Getting A Breather In Game 1 Of Doubleheader

New York Mets third baseman Mark Vientos is not in the starting lineup for Game 1 of a doubleheader on Sunday at Busch Stadium against the hosting St. Louis Cardinals. Luisangel Acuna will start in his place at third base and bat eighth versus Cardinals right-hander Erick Fedde. Despite the team's not playing on Saturday after the contest was postponed, Vientos will take a seat for the first game of the twin bill after starting each of the team's last 10 games. The 25-year-old is hitting just over .200 for the season with four home runs, 15 RBI and 15 runs scored, but he has picked things up of late, going 11-for-41 (.268) with two home runs, a double, triple, nine RBI and eight runs scored in his last 10 games since April 22. Acuna lacks much DFS upside near the bottom of the Mets' lineup on Sunday and he hasn't homered yet in 2025, but he's hitting a strong .289 (22-for-76) with four RBI, 13 runs and seven stolen bases.

Francisco Alvarez Sitting In Game 1

New York Mets catcher Francisco Alvarez will take a seat in the first game of their doubleheader against the St. Louis Cardinals on Sunday. Alvarez was given the start on Friday and went 3-for-5 at the plate. The young backstop missed nearly the first month of the season, recovering from a bone fracture in his left hand. Through his first six games of the season, Alvarez has posted a .269/.321/.423 slash line with one double and one home run. He has brought in six RBI and held a 9:2 K:BB. Fantasy managers should expect the 23-year-old to return to the starting nine for Game 2 this evening. In that match, he is set to face St. Louis right-hander Andre Pallante. In Game 1, Luis Torrens will be behind the dish and bat in the six-hole. He is worth a look in DFS facing Erick Fedde, who carries a 4.68 ERA.

Francisco Alvarez, Jeff McNeil Out On Saturday

New York Mets catcher Francisco Alvarez and second baseman Jeff McNeil are both resting on Saturday in St. Louis against the Cardinals at Busch Stadium. Luis Torres is catching and batting eighth, while Luisangel Acuna is at the keystone and is hitting seventh against Cardinals right-hander Erick Fedde. Both Alvarez and McNeil recently made their season debuts after beginning the 2025 season with injuries. Alvarez has gone just 4-for-21 with a homer, double, three RBI, two walks and eight strikeouts in his first five games of the year. McNeil has been better, going 6-for-19 with a homer, three RBI and a run scored in his first five games played. Of the two replacements on Saturday, Acuna is the better DFS sleeper pick. The 23-year-old Venezuelan infielder has yet to homer in his 73 at-bats this year, but he's batting .288/.342/.356 with seven stolen bases.

Brandon Nimmo Tallies Three Hits, Adds Long Ball On Friday

New York Mets outfielder Brandon Nimmo went 3-for-3 with three runs, a home run, and two walks during their victory over the St. Louis Cardinals. Nimmo enjoyed a perfect day at the plate. Nimmo would go deep in the seventh inning with a solo shot off St. Louis reliever John King. Nimmo was dealing with an illness earlier in the week but appears to have found his footing. Over his last 12 contests, Nimmo has posted a solid .283/.320/.500 slash line with one double, three long balls, and 13 RBI. Through 31 total games, Nimmo sits with a modest .229/.279/.441 line. However, his .350 xwOBA and .274 xBA suggest he should continue to see positive regression throughout the campaign. He remains a strong option in all formats on Saturday, facing St. Louis right-hander Erick Fedde.

Brandon Nimmo Returns To Face Diamondbacks

New York Mets outfielder Brandon Nimmo (illness) is back in left field and is hitting sixth in Thursday's series finale against the visiting Arizona Diamondbacks and right-hander Zac Gallen. Nimmo missed the last two games due to an illness, but he's feeling better now and will start against the D-backs in the series finale. The 32-year-old former first-rounder was feeling good enough to appear as a pinch-hitter in Wednesday's loss. Nimmo went 4-for-6 on Monday with two home runs, a double and nine RBI in the win over Arizona before falling ill on Tuesday. He's currently hitting just .216 (24-for-111) on the year with six long balls, 21 home runs and 13 runs scored for fantasy managers. Fantasy managers in redraft leagues will want to get him back into their lineups against Gallen, who he is hitting .143 against in seven career at-bats.
