This news comes a few days after Williams blew a three-run lead to the Toronto Blue Jays on Friday. The Yankees had to make this move given nothing is going right for Williams right now. He holds a 11.25 ERA, allowing 12 hits, 10 earned runs, and has walked seven batters in 10 games. It's best for the Yankees to pull him from the closer role and give him low-leverage situations to build up his confidence. The Yankees haven't named another closer, but the assumption is that Luke Weaver will be the favorite right now. Fantasy managers looking for bullpen help might want to snag Weaver before it's too late. As for Williams, fantasy managers should hold him for now as he'll hopefully return to the closer role after getting back on track.

Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Garrett Mitchell was placed on the 10-day injured list with a strained left oblique. Mitchell exited Friday's contest early due to oblique tightness, and Saturday's MRI confirmed the strain. The 26-year-old could use the time on the IL to reset, as he was off to a very slow start at the plate, slashing .206/.286/.294 with no home runs, a .264 wOBA, and a 65 wRC+ over 25 games. The former first-round pick has battled various injuries already in his short major league career, and has yet to log more than 69 games in a season, so hopefully this won't keep him out longer than expected, and maybe he can get back on track offensively. Daz Cameron was recalled from Triple-A Nashville to take his place, but hasn't offered much in the way of fantasy production during his previous stints in the majors, so is probably best left to the waiver wire for now.

Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Jackson Chourio was on fire at the plate during Saturday's game against the St. Louis Cardinals. He was hitting the ball all over the park in this one, but his biggest hit of the game came in the ninth inning. Chourio smacked a game-tying two-run blast off right-hander Ryan Helsley in the final frame. Sadly for Chourio, the Cardinals would end up winning the game in the bottom half of the inning. Despite that, Chourio went 4-for-5 with a home run, double, and three RBI in the loss. He was in a slump before this series in St. Louis. Now, Chourio has six hits over his last two games which is more than he had in his previous eight games combined coming into this series. The potential is through the roof, so Chourio needs to be rostered and started everywhere.

Milwaukee Brewers starting pitcher Brandon Woodruff (shoulder) made a 61-pitch rehab start at Triple-A Nashville on Thursday, but felt "really tired" afterward, according to manager Pat Murphy. Murphy also indicated that, although Woodruff experienced tiredness, there were no physical setbacks, so a return to the major league mound in May still appears to be on track. Despite not pitching in a game since 2023, the righty owns a career 3.10 ERA, 1.05 WHIP, and 22.4 percent K-BB%, so for those in need of pitching help, the 32-year-old is a worthwhile bench or IL stash in most fantasy leagues.

The 30-year-old entered Friday's game in the ninth inning to protect a one-run lead. Williams was shaky right off the bat, allowing a leadoff single to George Springer, hitting Andres Gimenez with a pitch, and allowing a two-run double to Alejandro Kirk. He surrendered an RBI single to Addison Barger before being removed from the game. Williams was charged with his first blown save of the season and owns an 11.25 ERA, 2.38 WHIP, and eight strikeouts over eight innings. After the game, Yankees manager Aaron Boone was asked if Williams would remain the closer. "We'll see," Boone said when asked if Williams would benefit from moving to lower leverage situations. "We'll kind of talk through this stuff. This is raw right now. We want to do everything we can to get him right because we know how good he is and how valuable he is going to be from us." Williams has struggled and could benefit from temporarily being removed from the closer role until he gets things right. Luke Weaver would be the biggest beneficiary and handle ninth-inning duties until the Yankees are ready to return to Williams. Fantasy managers searching for saves should add Weaver in all league formats.
