Yoshinobu Yamamoto Tosses Six Strong Innings, Earns Win

Dodgers right-hander Yoshinobu Yamamoto (6-3) coasted to his sixth victory of the year in a 7-2 win over the Cleveland Guardians on Monday. The 26-year-old fired six innings of two-run ball, allowed three hits, and racked up seven strikeouts against two walks. The outing continued an excellent start to 2025 for Yamamoto, who holds a 1.97 ERA with 75 strikeouts, 20 walks, and a microscopic 0.91 WHIP through 64 frames. He's a must-start every time out for fantasy managers, though he'll face a stiff test on Sunday against the New York Yankees. The last time the two met, Yamamoto held the Yankees to one run and one hit over 6 1/3 innings in a Game 2 victory in the 2024 World Series.

Shohei Ohtani Blasts League-Leading 19th Homer

Los Angeles Dodgers two-way superstar Shohei Ohtani didn't take long to deliver during Monday's game against the Cleveland Guardians. Ohtani smacked the first pitch he saw for a 378-foot home run in the opening frame versus right-hander Gavin Williams. He was busy on the base paths as Ohtani went 1-for-3 with a home run, two walks, and three runs scored in the win. Ohtani has homered in back-to-back games and this one marked his league-leading 19th home run of the season. There is a chance that his hitting is dialed back a bit once he's pitching again, but fantasy managers don't need to worry about that for another month or two.

Shohei Ohtani Slugs 18th Home Run on Sunday

Los Angeles Dodgers designated hitter Shohei Ohtani hammered his 18th home run of the season in a loss to the New York Mets on Sunday. Ohtani led the game off with a 411-foot blast against Mets right-hander Kodai Senga, but it was the lone run of the night for the Dodgers in a 3-1 defeat. Ohtani finished 1-for-4 in Sunday's loss. The reigning NL MVP is now tied with New York Yankees outfielder Aaron Judge and Philadelphia Phillies designated hitter Kyle Schwarber for the most homers in the majors. Along with his gaudy HR total, Ohtani has posted a remarkable .295/.388/.638 line with 32 RBI and 11 stolen bases over 240 trips to the plate this season. The lefty-swinging Ohtani will face Cleveland Guardians right-hander Gavin Williams on Monday.

Hyeseong Kim Remains Out on Sunday

Los Angeles Dodgers infielder Hyeseong Kim is out of the starting lineup ahead of Sunday's game against the New York Mets. Kim remains out of the starting lineup for the fourth straight game. He doesn't appear to be dealing with any injuries, so this looks like it's matchup related. Instead, the Dodgers will elect to go with Andy Pages in center field and Tommy Edman over at second base against right-hander Kodai Senga on Sunday. The expectation was that Kim would play three or four times a week, but that hasn't been happening lately. He's probably still worth rostering in deep leagues, but that's about it right now.

Shohei Ohtani Throws Live Batting Practice

Los Angeles Dodgers two-way superstar Shohei Ohtani (elbow) took the mound for a live batting practice session on Sunday. Ohtani threw 23 pitches and reportedly touched 97 mph on his fastball. The right-hander recorded a pair of strikeouts, walked a batter, and gave up a double to Hyeseong Kim on Sunday. This is an encouraging outing from Ohtani, but there is still more work to do. There is still no timetable for his return to the mound, but the assumption is that Ohtani should be able to contribute at some point in the second half of the season.
