I’m going to keep this writeup short since we have an hour until first pitch.

Left-hander Eduardo Rodriguez has made two starts since being activated off the restricted list. We’ve seen a decrease in his velocity and an inability to miss bats. In both starts he recorded a swinging-strike percentage of 2.6%, well below his career average of 10.7%. The Mariners have had success vs southpaws this season, posting the seventh-best wRC+ since July 1 at 121. 

Logan Gilbert has pitched well this season, with a 3.49 ERA, a 3.72 FIP and 4.04 SIERA. He shouldn’t have too much trouble against this Tigers lineup that has the second-worst wRC+ vs right-handed pitching since July, at 75 (25% below league average). 

The Tigers bullpen was great in the first half of the season but carries the ninth-worst ERA post-All-Star break. While the Mariners pen has been lights out with the fourth-best ERA and the sixth-best FIP in the second half.
