Welcome to another Sunday edition of MLB Best Bets! Today, we’ll look to complete a weekend sweep! Kevin Gausman, Luis Robert Jr. and Manny Machado have propelled us to profits this weekend. This afternoon, we’ll go back to the well with one of the hottest hitters in the game.
Texas Rangers @ San Diego Padres
This afternoon, the Padres will look to complete a three-game sweep of the Texas Rangers in Petco Park. The Padre offense has seemed to come and go, just as their captain Manny Machado does this season. Machado has been the heart and soul of the Padres over the last two seasons. We will back him once again against Rangers LHP Cody Bradford. Machado is hitting .292 at the plate over his last seven games with two homers and eight RBIs. Manny raised his average against LHP to .330 on the season after his performance last night, so we’ll take the Friar captain to stay hot in a favorable matchup and record a hit.
Chicago Cubs @ St. Louis Cardinals
Next, we’ll head out to Busch Stadium as NL Central rivals close out a three-game weekend series. The Cubs extended their winning streak to eight games after yesterday’s 5-1 win over the Cardinals. Cody Bellinger has been extremely impactful in his first season in Cubbie blue. Bellinger enters with a .315 AVG, 15 HR and 46 RBIs. Belly has returned to his old self thanks to a change of scenery it seems. Over the last 15 games, he’s hitting .379 with 6 HR and 17 RBIs. The hot streak should continue against veteran left-hander Steven Matz. In 12 plate appearances, Bellinger has a .333 AVG against Matz and is crushing LHP on the season with a .348 AVG. With history on our side and the matchup being in Bellinger’s wheelhouse, we will back the veteran outfielder to record a hit.
