Best MLB Props Bets
Chris Sale OVER 6.5 K
(+102, FanDuel)
Chris Sale looked like his old self in his last start, and it was by far his best of the season. The Red Sox pitcher racked up 11 strikeouts over six innings against the Twins and only allowed one run on three hits. He still walked two batters (two in every start) and has walked nine over his four starts. He’s coughed up five homers over that span. However, he has 30 strikeouts over his 18 innings and at least six in each outing. Sale only tossed 5.2 innings last season and 42.2 innings in 2021. He’s nowhere near the same pitcher he once was, but he still has nasty stuff, and it was on full display in his last appearance. It’s worth noting that he threw 74, 74 and 81 pitches in his first three games. He was able to ramp it up to 94 pitches in his last start, which is what we’re used to seeing from him when he’s healthy. The Orioles are middle of the pack when it comes to strikeout percentage (23.8%) and swinging-strike percentage.
Jordan Montgomery OVER 5.5 K
(-105, BetRivers)
Jordan Montgomery isn’t a big strikeout pitcher, but he can rack them up in the right spots. He only has 19 in 22.1 innings but has faced a couple good hitting teams. Arizona, Toronto and Pittsburgh are all in the bottom 10 in strikeout percentage. He struck out nine in his only road start, which came in Milwaukee (ninth-highest K%). He’ll pitch in San Francisco tonight against a Giants team that leads baseball with a 27.7 K%, and it’s even higher against LHP (30.9%). Their 12.5 SwStr% is the fourth-highest in the game, and although Montgomery’s SwStr% is at a career-low 8.7%, he’s been a bit unlucky.
