College Football Week 7 Betting Odds, Picks, and Trends

We’re in the thick of another season of college football, and in addition to covering DFS as well as  PrizePicks, I will be releasing a couple of weekly betting articles. The purpose of this writeup is to highlight some of my favorite college football games to bet on, give you my reasoning for picking said game and to direct you to the site with the softest line.

Let’s take a look below at my favorite spots to attack for Week 7.

Oklahoma State Cowboys vs. TCU Horned Frogs

3:30 p.m. ET Saturday
TCU -3.5, O/U 68.5, DraftKings Sportsbook

This is going to be a fantastic game for those who enjoy high scoring, as both of these teams can look like real life versions of a Tecmo Bowl video game. On the flip side, the defensive units for these squads are giving up over 400 yards of total offense to their opponents so we have a fun environment for a football game.

TCU are averaging 530 yards per game on offense, third most in all of college football. They’re also averaging 46.4 points per game, good for top five. Max Duggan has been playing like a Mon’star gone wild in what is playing out like the football edition of Space Jam. He has thrown for over 1,300 yards and 14 touchdowns to just 1 interception. He has also accounted for 200 rushing yards and 3 more ground scores. Meanwhile, long-time Cowboys starter Spencer Sanders is having a big season of his own throwing for almost 1,400 yards and 12 TDs to just 2 INTs. He has 240 yards on the ground to go along with 6 touchdowns as well.

I’m definitely going to be looking at a single-game parlay for this game as I love over 68.5 total, and I’m also inclined to take the Cowboys and the points as small road dogs. This is going to be a one possession game throughout and the Cowboys strong performance on the road the past two seasons makes them the play.

Betting Trends

  • Oklahoma State is 4-0 against the spread and as road dogs the past two seasons.
  • Oklahoma State is 6-1 straight up and 7-0 against the spread in their last seven road games.

Best Bet

Oklahoma State +3.5 & Over 68.5

Penn State Nittany Lions vs. Michigan Wolverines

12 p.m. ET Saturday
Michigan -7, O/U 51, DraftKings Sportsbook

This is a contrasting game to the one above as it features two of the best defenses in the Big 10 and points will be much harder to come by, The Wolverines are only allowing 11.3 points per game, which is fifth nationally. On offense, they’ve been the epitome of efficiency completing 74.1% of their passes which is tops in all of college football. Penn State’s defense has kept their opponents at a completion rate of 49.6%, which is third best in FBS. Offensively, they have an outstanding running game led by freshman Nicholas Singleton and his 7.3 yards per carry which is good for fifth in the nation.

Michigan is perfectly happy running a ball control offense and beating opponents into submission with a heavy dose of Blake Corum. They showed last week that their passing game has to be respected as well with the exciting JJ McCarthy for 304 yards and 3 touchdowns. Something has to give between these two defenses and with the Wolverines at home, I’ll be taking them and the points with the expectation of winning by 10-14.

Betting Trends

  • Michigan is 3-3 against the spread this season.
  • Michigan games have yet to go over the total once this season.
