Green Bay Packers head coach Matt LaFleur said that rookie running back MarShawn Lloyd (ankle, appendix, hamstring) will go on the Non-Football Injury list, which will knock him out for at least another four games. Lloyd was just activated from Injured Reserve on Monday but will now be forced to miss additional time after having an emergency appendectomy last Friday. The frustrating rookie season continues for the 23-year-old, as he's played in just one game in 2024. He'll be eligible to return in Week 16, which is the semifinals in most fantasy football leagues. Given his injury woes dating back to training camp this summer, Lloyd should only be stashed in dynasty/keeper leagues at this point. His new injury means that Chris Brooks and Emanuel Wilson will continue vying for scraps in the backfield behind starter Josh Jacobs.
Green Bay Packers running back MarShawn Lloyd (ankle, hamstring) is dealing with appendicitis and will not be active for the team's Week 11 divisional contest against the Chicago Bears on Sunday. "It is a shame, certainly. This all happened this morning. He felt some pain his abdomen this morning. Not sure if he's had surgery," head coach Matt LaFleur said. Lloyd was designated to return from Injured Reserve at the start of the week and had a shot to make his return to the field this weekend, but that won't happen now. The 23-year-old has been very injury-prone since joining the Packers and has played in just one game in his first season in the NFL. He suffered a high-ankle sprain earlier this year and will now miss an eighth straight game. Lloyd has explosive rushing ability as a backup to Josh Jacobs and is worth a stash in deeper leagues, but it's now unclear if he'll be able to return in Week 12 against the 49ers.
Green Bay Packers running back MarShawn Lloyd (hamstring, ankle) is practicing for a second straight day since being designated to return from the Injured Reserve list. The rookie out of USC was placed on IR with a hamstring injury after Week 2 and is now also listed with an ankle ailment. It is to be determined if Lloyd will be activated to play in Week 11 against the Chicago Bears, but his return to practice is promising. The team's third-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft could compete for the RB2 role behind Josh Jacobs when he's back in action, but it would be surprising if he's on the fantasy football radar unless Jacobs gets banged up. His rookie season has not gone to plan, but he could at least enter next season as the top handcuff for Jacobs in a great offense.UPDATE: Lloyd was limited for a second straight day on Thursday.
