One of my favorite things in DFS is the opportunity to try a new outlet. Diversifying where you play is key to building a bankroll. That type of opportunity is exactly what we get today with our new friends at StatHero.

In short, StatHero offers fantasy players two ways to play. A revolutionary DFS Sportsbook, and a fantasy-based survivor pool. The app doesn’t pit players against players, you’re always playing against StatHero. For a more in-depth look at what StatHero has to offer, check out this app review from FTN’s Tyler Loechner and Chris Meaney’s new video breakdown.

Stat Hero NBA picks for tonight

Player prices will fluctuate throughout the day with news, so prices in this article may not reflect what you see on the app when you’re making your lineup in the Sportsbook. Here’s a look at my favorite plays for Wednesday’s slate on StatHero.

StatHero MVP Picks (normally $11k and above)

Your MVP will score 1.5x the fantasy points. The pricing on StatHero has been getting much tighter as the real NBA rotations do the same. My two favorite MVP picks Wednesday are the two highest-projected players on the slate in Joel Embiid and Paul George. Even a hobbled Embiid is putting up massive numbers against a Hawks frontcourt that just can’t contend with his size/skill combo. George on the other hand will be taking over the reins for Los Angeles as Kawhi Leonard has an injury (which reportedly could be a torn ACL). It’s possible to stack the two, but I think we’ll have better success looking for a balanced build. Other options that are passable include Trae Young and Donovan Mitchell.

StatHero flex picks ($6.5k-$11k range)

I mentioned the tighter pricing and we see it at the top of this price range here with Ben Simmons, Tobias Harris and John Collins, all of whom are sitting at or above $11k. Add in Bogdan Bogdanovic at a slightly cheaper price and I think you have the pieces for a more balanced build if you don’t stack two of the studs from the MVP section. Looking down the rest of this midrange tier I like the idea of rostering Jordan Clarkson in a bounceback game at home, and it’s fine to get Joe Ingles or Bojan Bogdanovic as well. With Kawhi out, the Clippers role guys project a bit better than normal, so rostering Nicolas Batum, Reggie Jackson or Marcus Morris also has plenty of merit. Royce O’Neale’s minutes are some of the safest in the bottom of this price tier and it’s tough for me to get away from him in double-stud builds.

StatHero sleeper/value picks ($6.4k and below)

Not a lot to look at in the bargain bin. The two options that I am considering to save some salary on this slate are Georges Niang and Matisse Thybulle. The only other playable option I see as of this writing is Derrick Favors, and given his salary compared to the former two in this tier, he’s not a player I will likely get to if I’m only playing one entry on the DFS Sportsbook.
