The New York Jets gave their new quarterback Zach Wilson a brand new target with their second-round pick of the 2021 NFL Draft Saturday, selecting Ole Miss WR Elijah Moore.

(Check out the FTN Elijah Moore scouting report here.)

Moore was a consensus All-American in 2020 at Mississippi. He had 1,193 receiving yards and 8 touchdowns as a junior. He joins Wilson in New York and is now part of a receiver corps that includes Denzel Mims, Corey Davis, Keelan Cole and Jamison Crowder.

Arguably a first-round talent, Moore joins Zach Wilson and the Jets. It is an interesting fit, as he is a similar player to Jamison Crowder. Primarily a slot receiver, Moore saw less than 40 snaps against press coverage last season but alongside Corey Davis and Denzel Mims, he won’t be asked to play on the outside. Still, he is a tough wideout with good hands and can make tough catches in traffic, hauling in 73% of his contested catch opportunities last year. Moore can also make you miss, forcing 18 missed tackles in 2020, the sixth-most in college football. The Jets and Wilson get a smart, sure-handed slot receiver who excels at finding the soft spots in zone coverage. — Adam Pfeifer
