Summary

Isaiah Bond earned a 4-star rating from 247sports and began his college career at Alabama, where he topped 200 yards as a freshman. In 2023, his 668 yards and 4 touchdowns were second best on the Crimson Tide. Off this success, Bond transferred to Texas. This season, he has been used in a limited role, seeing only 32 targets, but he has been productive, topping 500 yards and a career-high 5 touchdowns.

Isaiah Bond lacks the height of a prototypical receiver standing 5-foot-11, but he has a thicker frame at 180 pounds. The main component of Bond’s game is his speed and how he controls it — we often see his track speed flash on film. It all starts at the line of scrimmage where defenders have to play off more time than not, but even if they press Bond, he has a variety of releases he deploys, now, if you get his hands on him, he can be easy to disrupt. Within his routes we see him weaponize leverage to put defenders into a difficult situation, which he marries with controlled fluid movements to create separation. At the stem of his route, he is not the cleanest, rounding some routes off, but his acceleration out of the break makes up for this. While at Texas we have seen him deployed closer to the line of scrimmage but has shown an ability to attack all three levels of the field throughout his college career.

Bond has improved as a pass catcher, looking more comfortable catching outside his frame. Within his frame, he displays strong hands and shields defenders from the ball in tight-window throws. We also see him excel at tracking the ball down on deep routes, making him a big play threat on every snap. His body control along the sidelines is impressive, making tightrope catches look routine. He doesn’t have the length or nuances to win contested situations regularly.

Once he has possession, he displays elusiveness and good vision to exploit defenders. Paring this with his speed makes him a YAC monster.

Fantasy Outlook

Bond came to Texas and has filled the Xavier Worthy role modestly, with his game being similar but slightly different than Worthy’s. Bond may only be 5-foot-11, but he appears thick on the field and handles contact well. His track speed paired with his understanding of leverage makes him a potent receiver who not only can take the top off a defense but also exploit you in the screen game. At Texas, he has been limited in his routes and depth of target, which is concerning that an NFL team may do the same. If this is the case, we need to hope he can become Deebo Samuel Sr., but if a team wants to deploy him more like Jaylen Waddle, his true ceiling can be reached.
