New Orleans Pelicans guard Jose Alvarado (illness) has been ruled out ahead of Wednesday's game against the Denver Nuggets. The Pelicans have been leaning more on Alvarado with Dejounte Murray (Achilles) done for the season. His absence means that the Pelicans will likely need to use a committee approach at the guard spot. Jordan Hawkins, Javonte Green, and Antonio Reeves should all see increased roles. None of them have great streaming appeal, but Hawkins is probably the best choice of the three.

New Orleans Pelicans guard Jose Alvarado (hamstring) is officially available against the Washington Wizards on Friday. The 26-year-old hasn't played since November 11 as he dealt with a hamstring strain while the rest of the team fell apart at the same time. Brandon Ingram (ankle) and Zion Williamson (hamstring) remain sidelined, so Alvarado will likely be needed to play a solid chunk of minutes off of the bench. He could take away some value from Jordan Hawkins in that case.

Alvarado has rejoined practice at full capacity and is nearing his return to action, but it looks like his comeback will not happen in Wednesday's game. The feisty guard last played on Nov. 11. He had a strong start to the season, averaging 10.7 points and 4.5 assists with 1.5 steals. However, fantasy managers should not expect Alvarado to maintain his numbers at the same level when he returns, as he benefited from the team's backcourt injuries early on.
