With two weeks of play underway in the  Hall of Fantasy league, we’re starting to see teams separate themselves as potential contenders and ones that could have some holes to fill in order to catch up to the pack the rest of the way.

If you are unfamiliar with the league, they do a fantastic job of laying everything out clearly and concisely on their homepage:

“The HOFL consists of 10 Football Franchises representing key markets throughout the U.S. Teams will be managed by a dedicated Front Office of fantasy experts who will compete on behalf of their respective Stakeholders.”

For more information, I wrote up the ins and outs of the entire league, including who is involved. You can read it here.

In regards to this piece, in particular, this will be a weekly piece highlighting where things stand in the league, a check-in on FTN’s own Jeff Ratcliffe’s team, and a matchup to look forward to in the upcoming week.

Stake Rankings

The biggest draw to the HOFL is a fan’s ability to stake a team and have skin in the game without needing to keep up with the day-to-day management. Below is a reminder as to where teams ranked heading into the season in terms of the total stake, with the Vegas Pocket Kings being the league leaders.

Stake Rank Team (GM)
1 Vegas Pocket Kings (Jeff Mans)
2 Ohio GOATS (Michael Fabiano & Bob Harris)
3 NY Bodega Cats (Scott Engel & Raphael Rabe)
4 LA Sidekicks (Christopher Harris)
5 Chicago Hogmollies (Jeff Ratcliffe)
6 Texas Y’allers (Sigmund Bloom & Joe Bryant)
7 Boston Barflies (John Paulsen & Jennifer Eakins)
8 Atlanta Hot Wings (Graham Barfield & Joe Dolan)
9 Seattle Haze (Melissa Jacobs & Pat Fitzmaurice)
10 Philly Powderkegs (Adam Caplan)

Week 2’s matchup of the week featured two teams that were bottom-four in terms of stake amount, as the Boston Barflies and the Philly Powderkegs squared off in an entertaining matchup, outlined below.

Week 2 Recap – Hall of Fantasy League

Despite losing running back Elijah Mitchell to an injury and getting floor games out of George Kittle and Jamaal Williams, the Barflies were able to get in the win column thanks to a 22.12-point win against the Powderkegs.

While the Powderkegs were able to get rock-solid production out of most of their lineup, losing Jarvis Landry to injury and an underwhelming outing from Miles Sanders wasn’t enough to top a ceiling performance from Tyler Lockett and a bounce-back from Aaron Rodgers.

Following the Week 2 loss, the Powderkegs GM Adam Kaplan showed confidence in his team:

With both of these teams sitting at 1-1 on the season, they’ll turn their attention to Week 3 and hope to build some momentum. Below is a view of how the overall standings look as we head into Week 3:

Record Team Points Scored FAAB
2-0 Chicago Hogmollies 338 $84
2-0 Atlanta Hot Wings 330 $52
1-1 NY Bodega Cats 365 $72
1-1 Vegas Pocket Kings 336 $61
1-1 Seattle Haze 305 $88
1-1 Philly Powderkegs 300 $63
1-1 Boston Barflies 277 $4
1-1 Texas Y’allers 258 $88
0-2 Ohio GOATS 314 $81
0-2 LA Sidekicks 296 $76

Obviously, with it only being Week 3, not a single team is out of it. With that said, it’s worth noting just how even this team is from top to bottom, with only two teams undefeated and six teams sitting at 0.500 through two weeks.

Another important aspect to track is the league’s activity throughout the waiver periods. The FAAB remaining is noted in the table above, while the notable players available can be found in this thread:

Matchup of the Week – Week 3 – Hall of Fantasy League

With so many teams knotted at 1-1, two of them square off in Week 3 as the Boston Barflies find themselves in the matchup of the week for the second consecutive week. This time, they face off with the NY Bodega Cats.

Desperate to gain some momentum, the matchup is outlined below with the Barflies on the left and the Bodega Cats on the right.

Josh Allen QB Kyler Murray
Joe Mixon RB Chris Carson
Elijah Mitchell RB Jonathan Taylor
DJ Moore WR Christian Kirk
Robert Woods WR Cooper Kupp
Tyler Lockett WR Mike Williams
George Kittle TE Logan Thomas
Jaylen Waddle FLX Darrell Henderson
Tyler Boyd FLX David Montgomery
Aaron Rodgers SFLX Justin Herbert
Jason Myers K Daniel Carlson
New England Patriots DST New Orleans Saints

To say these teams are evenly matched may be an understatement and the projection system feels the same, projecting this to be a 155.09 to 154.82 win in favor of the Bodega Cats. The focal point in this matchup is twofold, as it’ll be interesting to see two teams with elite quarterbacks as well as opposite Rams receivers square off.
