Week 5 NFL picks for JockMKT

What is JockMKT?

JockMKT is a fantastic new fantasy football platform that combines the financial market and sports. Bidding on a player as an IPO and getting paid out where they finish on the day. Example: “If fifth place overall is worth $20, and Tom Brady finishes with the fifth-most points, then every user holding Tom Brady receives $20 per share.” It is a fun way to try and buy low on top targets that week who have big time upside and can pay off their IPO price.

How does bidding work?

Bidding is very similar to Ebay. You enter a max bid and JockMKT will only use your max bid on players if needed. If no one competes you will get the player at their initial offering.

Five players to bid on in Week 5

Trey Lance, QB, San Francisco 49ers

Bid until top 20

Last week in just a half of play, Trey Lance scored over 20 fantasy points, despite being extremely inefficient through the air. Lance is an elite athlete and the exact kind of player we like on JockMKT. His legs provide him with the perfect floor and ceiling combination where he won’t kill you if he has a bad game, but a top five overall performance is well within his range of outcomes as well.

Jalen Hurts, QB, Philadelphia Eagles

Bid until top 10

With eight career starts, Jalen Hurts has never had fewer than seven rush attempts in his career. Just like Lance, he is the perfect blend of floor and ceiling, despite the tough matchup on paper. The Eagles have been a pass-happy team and against one of the top rush defenses, I wouldn’t expect that to change. They play with the fourth-best pace in football, and Hurts’ play volume, deep shots and rushing upside make him the perfect target on JockMKT.

Kyler Murray, QB, Arizona Cardinals

Bid until top 7

Kyler Murray may be a guy you have to let go of Sunday — as he gets bid up too high, there isn’t much of a ceiling but a massive floor. However, with the Chiefs/Bills game on the slate, people may flock to that game and leave out Murray.

I wrote this up in my advanced matchup column on Murray:

“Last week, we were on Kyler Murray, and while he didn’t bust, he didn’t have a ceiling game either. That, however, was through no fault of his own, as the Rams didn’t play their part, only scoring 20 points, and even that with a last-second touchdown to make the game closer than it was. Kyler didn’t even attempt a single pass in the fourth quarter. This week he is in the highest-total game on the main slate again and takes on a 49ers defense that struggles to contain quarterbacks. Through four weeks, the 49ers have allowed the second-most scramble yards in all of football. Murray, the current front runner for MVP, has been dynamite with more than just his legs, but his arm as well. He leads the NFL in deep ball completion percentage completing a ridiculous 73.7% of his 19 deep ball attempts this season.”

Justin Jefferson, WR, Minnesota Vikings

Bid until top 20

On JockMKT, we get a bonus when a player goes for 100 yards, and Justin Jefferson is a strong candidate to do exactly that this week. In fact, in his career at home, Jefferson is averaging 101 yards per game and 0.9 touchdowns. He takes on a Lions team that is allowing the most passing yards per attempt and over 17 yards per attempt on deep balls, which is where Jefferson thrives. He has a massive ceiling this week.

Nick Chubb. RB, Cleveland Browns

Bid until top 25

You can likely get Nick Chubb on the cheap this week as he has yet to have a ceiling performance and people will overlook him. He has 100-plus yards and multiple touchdowns well within his range of outcomes, and this is the week to do it. Chubb is averaging 21.5 carries per game since Baker Mayfield tore his labrum in his left shoulder and the Chargers play two-high and dare you to run the ball. They have a 27% stuff rate which is the worst in the league and 11% lower than any team last week. Letting Chubb get to the second level of your defense can lead to a long day for the defense and a big day for the running back.
