Just when we are set to see the return of some fantasy football superstars, more players suffer injuries in Week 9. It just doesn’t end.
At FTN Fantasy, we have a Waiver Wire Tool that ranks the top waiver adds of the week, while also recommending the amount of FAAB you should use on each player. And every Tuesday, I’ll break down the top five players listed in the tool, giving you the best case for each highly ranked player. With all of the key injuries impacting fantasy rosters, being able to add key players off waivers is as crucial as ever.
Fantasy Football Waiver Wire: Week 10
1. Tyrone Tracy Jr., RB, New York Giants
Yahoo! 69%, ESPN 68%
Why do I have to keep writing about Tracy? He should be rostered in every single fantasy league on the planet. Since Week 5, Tracy has logged just under 70% of the snaps, while averaging 18 touches per game and just over 20 PPR fantasy points per game during that span. The return of Devin Singletary has changed nothing. This backfield belongs to Tracy.
2. Cedric Tillman, WR, Cleveland Browns
Yahoo! 58%, ESPN 48%
Tillman has emerged as Cleveland’s WR1. The departure of Amari Cooper and presence of Jameis Winston have greatly benefited the second-year wideout, as Tillman ranks fifth in the NFL in receiving yards (255), second in touchdown catches (3), first in red zone targets (11) and first in end zone targets (4) since Week 7. Winston’s aggressiveness always benefits wide receivers, as over 40% of his passes over the last three weeks have been into tight coverage and his 11.0-yard average depth of target ranks third in the league. Tillman is on bye this week, but he looks like a WR3 with upside the rest of the way.
3. Rico Dowdle, RB, Dallas Cowboys
Yahoo! 68%, ESPN 63%
Dallas has been looking for some answers in the run game, and Dowdle emerged last week, rushing for 75 yards on 12 carries, while adding five receptions for 32 yards and a touchdown. He finally ripped off an explosive run last week, Dallas’ first of the season, while logging 71% of the snaps, easily a season high. The Cowboys offense is going to take a hit without Dak Prescott, but any starting running back needs to be rostered in 100% of leagues, especially if Dowdle continues to play more on third downs going forward.
4. Jauan Jennings, WR, San Francisco 49ers
Yahoo! 50%, ESPN 57%
Between a hip injury and last week’s bye, we haven’t seen Jennings in a while. But don’t forget about him. We know Brandon Aiyuk is done for the season, and we’ve already seen the upside Jennings possesses when one of San Francisco’s wide receivers is out of the lineup. He’s been dropped in plenty of leagues due to the bye week.
5. Xavier Legette, WR, Carolina Panthers
Yahoo! 27%, ESPN 33%
Diontae Johnson missed Week 8’s game with an injury and was traded entering Week 9. Over the last two weeks, Legette is averaging nearly seven targets per game, sporting a target share of 22.5% during that span.
