Week 2 recap | TopProp FTN Expert League
The results from Week 2 of the Expert League are below. After a Week 1 slate that featured only one matchup within a final margin of 10 points, it was much of the same in Week 2. Only two matchups finished within 10 points, while the other four finished with scoring margins of at least 20 points. The highlight of the week was Gilles Gallant’s 202.52-point performance. Between a 36.8-point performance from Cooper Kupp and a 41.5-point performance from Aaron Jones, Gallant really didn’t show any mercy for FTN’s Editor in Chief, Daniel Kelley.
Daniel, I know you’re reading this, and know that you have my full unwavering support. You will bounce back.
Last week’s Matchup of the Week between Ray Garvin and Jeff Ratcliffe was the highest projected matchup, but it came up a bit short, specifically on Ratcliffe’s end, as Garvin found the win column, a feat that Ratcliffe has yet to do this season.
Despite the 0-2 record, Ratcliffe has some integral pieces that should help him right the ship. He has two rock-solid running backs with upside in Ezekiel Elliott and Joe Mixon, while filling out the rest of his roster with Josh Allen, CeeDee Lamb, and D’Andre Swift should vault this team into the win column sooner rather than later.
Week 3 Matchup of the Week | TopProp FTN Expert League
After allegedly auto-drafting Patrick Mahomes in the third round, a point he is very adamant about, Kevin Adams’ team sits at 1-1 ahead of a tightly projected (1.2-point difference) matchup with Fade the Chalk co-host Derek Brown. TopProp, however, has more confidence in Adams than the host site does, as they’re giving him a 5-point spread.
Both teams have safety nets and question marks. Adams has a rock-solid base to each position, sitting with Mahomes, Stefon Diggs and Nick Chubb. For his team, it’s a matter of whether the ancillary pieces can produce or not. Laviska Shenault will be one player to pay particular attention to as his seven targets were encouraging in Week 2 until you realize that he finished with -3 receiving yards.
For Brown, he’s benefited from solid production from Jalen Hurts, Tee Higgins and Mike Williams. Could Week 3 be the week where Saquon Barkley and George Kittle are finally added to that mix? If so, taking Brown with the points could be an interesting bet. Based on the individual player matchups, I expect this to be a close game. While I do think Adams squeaks this out, I like laying my money on Brown with the five-point spread.
