TopProp Fantasy Sports is officially live, bringing you a new way to wager on fantasy football. Are you confident that you have the best team in your league? Great, bet on it. Are you confident that your league mate Bob is going to blow John out of the water this week? Great, bet on it.

Put down your group chat where you talk trash and put your money where your mouth is. That’s what TopProp gives you the ability to do. It also gives you the ability to wager on “Expert” leagues. These can be leagues made up of your favorite fantasy football analysts, industry experts, or anyone else that you simply want to wager on. One of those leagues is made up of our experts here at FTN.

Each week, I will provide you with an update on the TopProp FTN Expert League, highlighting a key matchup to wager on, recapping the last week, and reviewing the current standings of the league.

Additionally, their recent launch of Battleground allows users to face off head-to-head in player-prop contests with pre-populated spreads set on their fantasy point matchups. I will also provide two contests that I am eyeing for Week 8 on Battlegrounds and which way I lean in each.

Am I getting carried away with the hype (maybe not hype, but attention) surrounding Jordan Love’s first career start? Sure, but there are several reasons to be optimistic. Not only does he have the ability to contribute through the air and on the ground, but he also has two of the best weapons (Davante Adams and Aaron Jones) in football while walking into one of the best on-paper matchups he can ask for. Hitting on it in my Thursday-Monday article:

“Through the first eight weeks of the season, the Chiefs rank seventh-worst in passing yards allowed and fourth-worst in adjusted completion rate allowed (78.7%) while they’ve allowed the fourth-highest yards-per-attempt mark (8.42) with their 15 passing touchdowns allowed being the fourth-highest mark in football.”

Given the matchup and potential script that favors a quarterback for Love, getting a 4.5-point cushion against a low-volume quarterback in a treacherous matchup is one to target. With the addition of Von Miller on the Rams, Tannehill may have very little time to throw and no longer has the reliance of his All-Pro running back at his fingertips.

The second matchup I want to target is between two receivers who have had polar opposite seasons, yet the player who’s seen a drop in production comes in as the favorite. There are very few receivers in Week 9 with a more exploitable matchup than Brown, as noted by Jeff Ratcliffe in his WR/CB matchups article:

“The breakout is real for Brown, who has had at least one step of separation on 95% of his targeted routes. Not only is he getting open at will, but he also gets to face a short-handed Vikings secondary. Bashaud Breeland has been a liability with 15.5 yards per catch allowed.”

On the other side, Robert Woods has clearly fallen behind Cooper Kupp on the pecking order in this Rams’ passing attack and with the injury issues on the other side of this game, it could set up for a run-heavy approach for the Rams, who should operate with a lead for the majority of this game. With the ceiling that Brown carries, give me him as the underdog any day of the week.

Week 9 Preview | TopProp FTN Expert League

There is a clear distinction between the best teams in the FTN Expert League and the worst, as two teams sit at 7-1-0, while there is one lowly 0-8-0 team. Outside of these three teams, there’s a herd of teams that are either 4-4-0 or 3-5-0.

After dropping three straight games, Joe Metz was able to keep Eliot Crist in the loss column and get back on track. This comes just in time as he finally welcomes Christian McCaffrey back to action in Week 9, setting up for a nice opportunity to gain some momentum and start a potential winning streak.

The other matchup to watch will be between Matthew Freedman and Gilles Gallant, as they’re tied atop the league at 7-1-0, but only one will be able to walk away with the top seed after this week. This sounds like a perfect matchup to bet on.
