Titans Sign Kicker Joey Slye

The Tennessee Titans signed former New England Patriots and Washington Commanders kicker Joey Slye to an undisclosed deal on Monday, according to agent Glenn Schwartzman. Slye signed with the Patriots last year and beat out Chad Ryland for kicking duties. The 28-year-old then went 26-for-33 on his field-goal attempts (6-for-9 from 50-plus yards) and 25-for-26 on his extra-point tries in 17 games played. The Titans will be the sixth team that Slye has kicked for in his NFL career after going undrafted out of Virginia Tech in 2018. He has a career 81.7 percent success rate on his field-goal attempts in 95 games played. He's currently the only kicker on Tennessee's roster, but it wouldn't be a surprise for the Titans to bring in competition for training camp this summer. Slye is unlikely to be much of a fantasy option in 12-team leagues this fall.

Titans Bring Julius Chestnut Back On One-Year Deal

The Tennessee Titans are re-signing running back Julius Chestnut to a one-year contract, according to NFL insider Tom Pelissero. Chestnut signed with Tennessee after going undrafted in 2022 out of Sacred Heart University, and he has contributed on special teams and offense over the last three seasons. Overall, the 24-year-old has logged 31 rushes for 102 yards, five receptions for 52 yards, four tackles, and one fumble recovery in 23 career games. While Chestnut is unlikely to be fantasy-relevant in 2025, the run of unfortunate injury luck for backup running back Tyjae Spears keeps him on the fantasy football radar in the deepest of fantasy football leagues. That said, if the Titans select a running back in the 2025 NFL Draft at any point, Chestnut could be a cut candidate after training camp.

Titans Not Actively Shopping Will Levis, Could Make Deal On Draft Night

According to Terry McCormick of Titaninsider.com, the Tennessee Titans are not actively or currently shopping quarterback Will Levis. However, he said the team could strike a deal on draft night to ship the 2023 second-round pick. There were reports on Tuesday that teams have called regarding Levis' availability, but the Titans are keeping all options open, and a trade is not inevitable. In 21 games with Tennessee, the Kentucky product has thrown for 3,899 yards, 21 touchdowns, and 16 interceptions. While all signs point toward the Titans selecting Miami quarterback Cam Ward with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, the organization could opt to keep Levis as a backup or trade him down the line when Ward potentially officially becomes the selection at the top of April's draft.

Kirk Cousins, Will Levis On The Trade Block?

A league source told Josina Anderson that both Atlanta Falcons quarterback Kirk Cousins and Tennessee Titans quarterback Will Levis came up in recent preliminary trade inquiries or internal discussions. "Atlanta has been getting calls," the league source said, while also saying, "the Titans would like to transition." The Falcons continue to say they're willing to pay Cousins top money to serve as their backup in 2025, and they even kept him past last Saturday's $10 million guarantee deadline. However, Cousins doesn't want to be a backup, and Atlanta could give in if they get the right return, although they'd probably have to eat some money, too. The Titans are clearly ready to move on from Levis, who was benched last year, but it remains to be seen what kind of trade market he'd even have. It's looking a lot more likely that the Titans may hang onto the No. 1 overall pick and take Miami QB Cam Ward.

Brandon Allen Joining Titans Quarterback Room

Free-agent quarterback Brandon Allen is signing a one-year deal with the Tennessee Titans, according to NFL insider Mike Garafolo. Allen was originally a sixth-round selection by the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2016 out of Arkansas and has spent time with five NFL organizations. Overall, the 32-year-old has completed just under 57% of his passing attempts for 1,810 yards, 11 touchdowns, and eight interceptions in 18 career games (one start). He'll now join Will Levis in Tennessee's quarterback room, and the Titans seem to be signaling that they are leaning toward picking a quarterback with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. It would not be a surprise if Levis is dealt for a late-round pick, and Tennessee selects Miami quarterback Cam Ward next month.
