Dolphins Not Close to a Trade of Jalen Ramsey

The Miami Dolphins continue to explore trade options for cornerback Jalen Ramsey this offseason, but sources told NFL Network's Cameron Wolfe that "nothing is imminent." Wolfe was also told to keep an eye on the July 1 date, as the Dolphins would take over a $25 million salary cap hit if they were to trade Ramsey before July 1. That number drops to under $7 million if Miami trades the 30-year-old veteran defensive back after July 1. "Relationships are hard," defensive coordinator Anthony Weaver said in response to a question as to why the Dolphins are looking to move the seven-time Pro Bowler and three-time All-Star in the first place. The former fifth overall pick in 2016 is still playing at a high level, and this isn't about him wanting more money, but he simply wants to move on at this point. The Rams, Falcons and Panthers are three potential landing spots for Ramsey. Stay tuned.

Rams Involved In Jalen Ramsey Trade Talks

The Los Angeles Rams "are still involved in a potential trade" for Miami Dolphins cornerback Jalen Ramsey, according to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler. In fact, Fowler explains that the Rams' interest in Ramsey is one reason why they didn't select a cornerback in last month's NFL Draft. The veteran defender has reportedly been available for several weeks, with Miami expected to trade or release him by the end of June. The Dolphins' decision to move on from Ramsey stems from his contract, which includes a $16.67 million cap hit this season. If Miami trades him before June 1, they would take on $25.2 million in dead money while saving $8.6 million against the cap. Trading him after June 1 would provide greater financial relief with $6.7 million in dead money and $9.9 million in savings. Fowler notes that prospective trade partners are worried about Ramsey's $24 million in guarantees, and the Dolphins have been hesitant to cover a portion of the bill. As a result, the impasse continues. However, Los Angeles is certainly interested, and we've seen other contenders like the Ravens linked to Ramsey, too. The 30-year-old is a seven-time Pro Bowler and three-time First-Team All-Pro. He has 24 career interceptions and won a Super Bowl with the Rams in 2022.

Ravens A Candidate To Trade For Jalen Ramsey?

The market for a return on Miami Dolphins cornerback Jalen Ramsey in a trade is weaker now that the 2025 NFL draft has passed, but the Dolphins are still expected to move him this offseason. The Dolphins would clear almost $10 million in 2025 salary cap space if Ramsey is a post-June 1 trade. There has been some talk that the Los Angeles Rams would be open to a reunion with the seven-time Pro Bowler, but NFL.com's Nick Shook lists the Baltimore Ravens as potentially being the best fit. Baltimore's secondary appears crowded as of now, and money could be an issue, but they have never shied away from making instant-impact signings at the back end of their defense. Other teams that could look to trade for Ramsey include the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Arizona Cardinals and Las Vegas Raiders, but there's also still a chance he sticks in Miami in 2025.
