New York Jets wide receiver Garrett Wilson is expected to see a larger workload next season. Head coach Aaron Glenn recently said during a press conference that they want to get Wilson the ball as much as possible. He didn't really add on much to that statement, but it shouldn't be surprising that the Jets want to get their best wideout the ball as often as possible. Despite some lackluster play at quarterback last season, Wilson finished with 101 receptions, 1,104 receiving yards, and seven touchdowns in 17 games. The Jets are hopeful that Justin Fields can give them a better performance under center this upcoming season. Wilson might creep his way into the WR1 discussion, but for now is a safe WR2 in fantasy formats.

The 2022 first-round pick out of Ohio State is eligible for a contract extension following his third NFL campaign. With lackluster quarterback play between Zach Wilson, Mike White, Joe Flacco, Aaron Rodgers, Trevor Siemian, and Tim Boyle, Wilson has racked up 279 receptions (469 targets) for 3,249 yards and 14 touchdowns in 51 career games. He ranks 10th among all players in receiving yards since entering the league, so the organization would surely like to keep him long term. Entering 2025, Wilson will catch passes from Justin Fields, who was his college quarterback in 2019 and 2020. While Fields has been a questionable passer throughout his NFL career, Wilson should be the dominant target-hog in the New York offense. He remains a WR2 with WR1 upside for fantasy football.

The New York Jets are picking up the fifth-year option on wide receiver Garrett Wilson, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. It will cost the Jets $16.8 million for the 2026 season. The 24-year-old former first-rounder (10th overall) out of Ohio State could work out a long-term contract extension this offseason that would make his fifth-year option basically a mute point, though. Despite dealing with inconsistent quarterback play in his three years in the NFL, Wilson has been productive with three straight 1,000-yard receiving seasons and 14 touchdowns on 279 catches (469 targets) in 51 games played (46 starts). Even though there are questions about how much the Jets will throw the ball with dual-threat QB Justin Fields now in town, Wilson has excellent chemistry with Fields from their days at Ohio State and should be heavily targeted as the unquestioned WR1 in 2025.

That was expected to be the case as soon as the Jets decided to move on from quarterback Aaron Rodgers and receiver Davante Adams. Wilson was still a top-12 fantasy receiver in half-PPR scoring last year despite Adams taking away valuable targets, but the 24-year-old's upside will be even higher as the unquestioned WR1 for new Jets quarterback Justin Fields, especially if they are force-feeding him targets. Fields has plenty left to prove as a passer, but it will be a bonus that Wilson and Fields already have plenty of chemistry from their days playing together in college at Ohio State. The volume should be there, but efficiency will be a question mark for Wilson, who should be considered a legitimate WR1 in fantasy.

The Athletic's Dianna Russini and Zack Rosenblatt write that New York Jets wide receiver Garrett Wilson will be the no-doubt No. 1 target in this offense in 2025 and should have a big season as he reunites with quarterback Justin Fields, who he played with in college at Ohio State. As a freshman for the Buckeyes in 2020 with Fields at QB, Wilson caught 50 passes for 729 yards and seven touchdowns. Fields' ability to run the football should make life easier on running back Breece Hall. Not only does Wilson have prior history and chemistry with Fields, but the primary thing that will make Wilson's fantasy ceiling higher in 2025 is the fact that receiver Davante Adams is out of town. Fields can definitely stand to improve as a passer, but even if he doesn't, Wilson should eat and be a surefire WR1 target in fantasy drafts this fall.
