The Athletic's Charlotte Carroll wonders if New York Giants rookie running back Cam Skattebo can usurp Tyrone Tracy Jr. for the RB1 job in 2025. It's possible, but Carroll goes on to say that it's more realistic that Skattebo, the team's fourth-rounder out of Arizona State this year, jumps Devin Singletary for the RB2 role to begin his rookie season. Skattebo offers a more physical complement to Tracy's speed and is already a fan favorite in the Big Apple because of his physicality and underdog mentality. For now, Carroll is giving the slight edge to the veteran Singletary well before training camp, but it's very possible that Singletary falls further down the depth chart after losing the starting gig to Tracy in 2024. Skattebo makes up for his lack of speed with plenty of power and explosiveness. Don't be surprised if he becomes New York's primary pass-catching back early on in 2025.

Skattebo is a capable blocker and was very good as a receiver out of the backfield for Arizona State in 2024. The 23-year-old's dad was a receiver and used to drill him on the fundamentals of route-running, so he could already be the team's most talented pass-catching back. Hughes also writes that there were comparisons after the NFL draft of Tyrone Tracy Jr. and Skattebo recreating the team's old backfield of Ahmad Bradshaw and Brandon Jacobs. Skattebo is stocky at 5-foot-9, but he's not the physical back that Jacobs was. The fourth-rounder has unique fantasy upside as a potential powerful workhorse down the road, but the presence of Tracy might make him fantasy relevant only in PPR leagues in 2025.

ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reports that the New York Giants are expected to use rookie fourth-round running back Cam Skattebo as a pass-catcher and a runner. They like the Arizona State's ability to track the ball out of the backfield. The 23-year-old came alive for the Sun Devils in 2024 with 1,711 rushing yards and 21 touchdowns on 293 carries while adding 45 receptions for 605 yards and another three scores through the air. The 23-year-old might be a weakness in pass protection, which could cost him as he looks to get involved alongside Tyrone Tracy and Devin Singletary, but his physicality and versatility in the backfield makes him an intriguing dynasty/keeper prospect heading into his rookie season. At the very least, Skattebo could be in consideration for a bench spot in deep PPR fantasy leagues in 2025. His addition certainly isn't great news for Tracy.
