Ben Sinnott Will Be One Of The Team's Top-Three Tight Ends

ESPN's John Keim says that Washington Commanders rookie second-round tight end Ben Sinnott will be one of the team's top-three tight ends this year. Sinnott's versatility is noticeable, as he's been used as a tight end and as a fullback in training camp. He hasn't exactly stood out with an ability to create separation from defenders, but he does excel at running after the catch -- a trait he showed in college at Kansas State. The 22-year-old caught all three of his targets for 57 yards in last week's preseason game against the New York Jets, but his work came with backup quarterbacks Jeff Driskel and Sam Hartman. Sinnott has plenty to like in dynasty/keeper leagues, but fantasy managers in single-year formats can ignore him for now while he tries to stand out behind starter Zach Ertz and John Bates in his first year in the NFL.

Ben Sinnott Leads Washington In Yards On Saturday

Washington Commanders tight end Ben Sinnott led the team in receiving yards with 57 and receptions with three on Saturday afternoon. Sinnott made his first professional catch in the first quarter off a one-yard pass from Jeff Driskel. In the second quarter, Driskel hit him on his longest reception of the day for 44 yards. Later in the second half, he made his final reception for 12 yards from Sam Hartman. This was a great sign for the former second-round pick, as he looked quite comfortable in his first NFL game. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his progression through the remainder of the preseason, as he could become a consistent option in the offense. For now, veteran Zach Ertz should be viewed as the starter, but Sinnott could be worth a flier late in drafts if he continues to produce in the preseason.

Ben Sinnott Could Carve Out A Role In Rookie Season

Washington Commanders rookie tight end Ben Sinnott was taken with the No. 53 overall pick in the third round of this year's draft out of Kansas State, and he will have an opportunity for playing time right away despite the presence of Zach Ertz, John Bates, Cole Turner and Armani Rogers on the roster. He brings receiving prowess and height (6-foot-3, 250 pounds) to an offense that could use a bit of both to help rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels, who was taken second overall. The athletic tight end's unique versatility means he could carve out a role in offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury's attack in 2024. Sinnott had 676 receiving yards and six touchdowns on 49 catches in 2023. Still, Ertz is likely to open the year as Washington's primary pass-catching tight end, with Bates being a steady blocker. Sinnott could leapfrog Turner and Rogers with a strong training camp, but he's unlikely to be an immediate fantasy asset in single-year leagues.
