NFL TE Prop Bets: 2022 Receiving Yards Leader Picks

No tight end has ever been the NFL receiving yards leader, but there’s enough talent at the position that history could potentially be made in the 2022 season. A handful of tight ends are given a real chance to win the prop bet for most receiving yards.

Travis Kelce has +2000 odds at DraftKings Sportsbook (4.76% implied probability) to be the 2022 NFL receiving yards leader, making him the favorite among all tight ends. Only six players have better odds than Kelce to have the most receiving yards. Kelce owns the tight end records for most yards in a season and career yards per game.

Mark Andrews has +3000 odds to be next season’s receiving yards leader, indicating that he has a legitimate shot to have a historic 2022 campaign. Andrews led all tight ends in 2021 with 107 receptions and 1,361 yards, which were good for fifth and sixth, respectively, among all players.

After Kelce and Andrews, the rest of the league’s tight ends are long shots to lead the NFL in receiving yards. Kyle Pitts is third at the position with +5000 odds. Darren Waller (+7000) and George Kittle (+8000) are the only other tight ends with better than +15000 odds to lead the league in receiving.

Let’s take a look at the tight end favorites to be the 2022 NFL receiving leader and the best pick for this prop bet.

Will a Tight End be the 2022 NFL Receiving Leader?

Below are the odds for tight ends to lead the NFL in receiving yards in 2022, per DraftKings Sportsbook.

Why is Travis Kelce the Tight End with the Best Odds to Have the Most NFL Receiving Yards in the 2022 Season?

Kelce might go down as the most accomplished tight end of all time, and he’s set up to potentially have a career year in 2022. The departure of Tyreek Hill leaves Kelce as the clear No. 1 option in the Kansas City Chiefs’ offense. JuJu Smith-Schuster and Marquez Valdes-Scantling can have big seasons, but the new additions don’t have the chemistry that Kelce shares with Patrick Mahomes.

Even in what might’ve been a down year by Kelce’s standards, the tight end had 92 receptions for 1,125 yards in 2021. Kelce is the only tight end in history to go for at least 1,000 yards in six straight seasons. Because of the opportunities that he’s going to get in 2022, extending that streak to seven seasons feels like a given.

Kelce set the tight end record in 2020 with 1,416 yards, and he finished second in the race to be the receiving yards leader. In 2019, his 1,229 yards were good for fourth in the NFL. It should come as no surprise if Kelce is a serious contender to have the most yards late in 2022.

Best TE 2022 NFL Receiving Leader Bet

Kyle Pitts, Atlanta Falcons (+5000)

Last season, Pitts became the first rookie tight end in 60 years to record over 1,000 receiving yards. The No. 4 overall pick in the 2021 draft is poised to put up even bigger stats in 2022. Unlike Darren Waller or George Kittle, Pitts won’t compete with a first-team All-Pro receiver for targets. With Russell Gage going to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Calvin Ridley receiving a one-year gambling suspension, none of the Falcons’ projected starting receivers have 1,000 career yards.

The Falcons have uncertainty at quarterback and wide receiver. Marcus Mariota hasn’t been a starter in three seasons, and no one knows for sure if Desmond Ridder can be a good NFL quarterback. No. 8 overall pick Drake London must become a threat so Pitts isn’t facing constant double-teams.

Atlanta has the NFC’s lowest over/under win total. Only two teams allowed more points than Atlanta last season, and the defense isn’t expected to be much better. The Falcons will often be playing from behind, leading to plenty of garbage-time targets and yards for Pitts. That’s how Josh Gordon became the NFL receiving yards leader in 2013. The Cleveland Browns went 4-12, and Gordon played in an offense that led the league in pass attempts.

Understanding 2022 NFL Receiving Leader Odds

FTNBets can show you how to bet on a tight end to be the 2022 receiving yards leader. Bettors must first create an account with a sportsbook that operates in their state and deposit money to wager. When your account is set up, you can bet on this prop.

In the NFL player futures section of a sportsbook, dozens of offensive players are included as options to have the most receiving yards in the regular season. Among all the players listed, the odds for the top tight ends should look something like this:

The numbers next to each player represent the odds, as well as the payout for a winning $100 bet. Travis Kelce is the favorite among all the tight ends because he has the lowest number.

If you win a $100 bet on Kelce to have the most receiving yards, your account should be credited $2,100 in total. That includes a $2,000 profit and the $100 you originally wagered. A winning $50 bet on Kelce would result in a $1,000 profit.
