It takes a lot for any team to get from August to the Super Bowl and typically, that includes a ton of injuries. Fortunately, especially for our DFS outlook, it appears that both the Eagles and Chiefs are going to be at full strength for Sunday.
Super Bowl 59 Injury Report
Philadelphia Eagles
Cam Jurgens, OL
Kenneth Gainwell, RB
Brandon Graham, DE
The Chiefs have no injuries that were even on the report, and it’s not like the ones that the Eagles had are of much concern. The largest question mark was about running back Kenneth Gainwell, who suffered a concussion in the NFC Championship game. Gainwell was a full participant in practice Friday and will be active, just as Brandon Graham and Cam Jurgens will be. Jurgens didn’t start the NFC Championship game but was pressed into emergency duty when Landon Dickerson got hurt, but everyone appears ready to roll for Sunday. Graham has come all the way back from a torn triceps in November to be active. The pass rush for the Eagles will be quite formidable with that addition.
Original Injury Report
(From after the Conference Championship Round)
The Super Bowl matchup is set, as the Philadelphia Eagles ran all over the Washington Commanders, and the Kansas City Chiefs once again vanquished the Buffalo Bills. We are a long way away from the actual game, so the injury report is likely to change. But we can take a look at the Philadelphia side of things. As for the Chiefs, they went into the AFC Championship Game with all 53 players off the injury report. At least as of now, there didn’t appear to be any injury that happened in that game to change things.
Philadelphia Eagles
Jalen Hurts, QB
Landon Dickerson, OL
Cam Jurgens, OL
Brandon Graham, DL
On the positive side for the Eagles, Jalen Hurts didn’t seem to suffer any ill effects from his knee injury coming into the game. He moved in the pocket well and scrambled efficiently while also taking part in the tush-push play multiple times. Another positive note is that it’s possible defensive lineman Brandon Graham could be back for the Super Bowl after torn triceps during the year. Getting another situational pass-rusher back on the defense wouldn’t be a bad thing for Philly in the least.
The biggest questions are along the offensive line. Cam Jurgens was active on Sunday but was only supposed to play in an emergency role. That situation came to pass because Landon Dickerson suffered a knee injury that forced him to miss the second half of the game. Both of these players could be healed up and ready to roll in two weeks, but it will be worth watching to see what happens. The last thing Philly would want is to lose both of them before the biggest game of the year.
