Dalvin Cook 2022 Prop Bets: Rushing Yards, TD Predictions

Over the past three seasons, Dalvin Cook has emerged as one of the best running backs in the game. In each of the last three seasons, Cook has amassed over 1,000 yards on the ground even with missing time due to injury.

The Vikings have a new head coach, Kevin O’Connell, and he will be in charge of calling the plays for the Vikings. O’Connell focuses more on the passing game than the rushing game, but oddsmakers are still expecting big things from Cook. According to DraftKings Sportsbook, Dalvin Cook’s rushing yard prop is set at 1,150.5 yards and his touchdown prop is set at 9.5.

Cook has surpassed this rushing total and touchdown total twice in the last three seasons. Cook has never played a full NFL season. If Cook can stay healthy, it is not hard to imagine him easily eclipsing both of these totals in 17 games. However, for Cook, that is a big “if.”

While the Vikings have a good backup RB in Alexander Mattison, it is still the Dalvin show in Minnesota. Let’s take a dive into Cook’s 2022 props and determine if we think he will go over or under the set totals.

How Many Rushing Yards Will Dalvin Cook Have in 2022?

(Over 1150.5; -115)

Dalvin Cook is a horse with the ball in his hands, and watching him gallop all over the defense is a sight to be seen. Head coach Kevin O’Connell comes from the Rams who did not have a true workhorse running back. It will be interesting to see if O’Connell opts to give Cook a lighter workload to try to limit his injury potential.

While I can see Cook being on a pitch count, I also can see him running wild with any opportunity on the ground he gets. Cook has been able to put up yardage around this total throughout his career without ever leading the league in carries. Mix in the fact that the Vikings have a solid offensive line, and I think we can see Cook running free a lot.

Even with Alexander Mattison behind him, Cook is one of the few workhorses running backs in today’s NFL. His ability to make cuts, make tacklers mix, and his open field speed makes him a truly unique weapon. If Cook can play even 14 games, I can see him going over this total, and if he stays healthy, he could even lead the entire NFL in rushing.

How Many Rushing Touchdowns Will Dalvin Cook Have in 2022?

(Over 9.5; +100)

Kevin O’Connell is familiar with Kirk Cousins from his time in Washington, so he knows that Cousins has his limitations as a player. Having Cook take the pressure off the offense is a huge bonus, and I can see Cook being the one to hit the endzone to cap off drives. Pair that with the Vikings’ improved offensive line, and there should be sizeable holes for Cook to hit.

Cook went over this total in 2019 and 2020, and he played just 14 games in both of those seasons. Cook hit paydirt just six times last season, and I expect there to be positive progression in his favor. Cook’s longest rush last season was 66 yards, and he is a threat to score any time he touches the football.

Dalvin Cook’s rushing yard prop for the 2022 season is set at 1150.5 yards, and this over has a -115 vig. This means that in order to win $100, you would need to bet $115 that Cook will have more than 1150.5 rushing yards.
