Kentavious Caldwell-Pope DVOA, Advanced Stats, & Fantasy Rankings

Orlando Magic guard Kentavious Caldwell-Pope (knee) will play on Sunday against the Hawks. KCP didn't suit up on Friday night versus the Indiana Pacers. However, he'll be out there for the regular-season finale. It's tough to say how much action Caldwell-Pope will get, considering the Magic are locked into the Play-In. Still, his availability should lower the ceiling of Gary Harris, who had 10 points as a starter on Friday.

The veteran is being rested for the second leg of a back-to-back. Tristan da Silva is set to start Friday's game in Caldwell-Pope's place. The starting role will boost da Silva's fantasy value, although his numbers have only slightly increased when he has been part of the starting group this season. In 35 starts, the 23-year-old rookie has averaged 8.9 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 1.8 assists.

There was some uncertainty if Caldwell-Pope would suit up for both games of the back-to-back set. It appears that the veteran guard is feeling good enough to play after playing 22 minutes on Wednesday. The expectation is that Caldwell-Pope will have his normal role in the rotation, but he's really only offering low-end value right now.

But he may get the night off to rest before likely returning for Monday's game at Golden State. With Jalen Suggs (quadriceps) also uncertain to suit up against the Jazz, Anthony Black and Cole Anthony could find themselves in the starting lineup, enhancing their fantasy value. But Franz Wagner and Paolo Banchero, who took nearly half of Orlando's 81 shot attempts in Thursday's loss to the Portland Trail Blazers, should continue to benefit the most on the scoring end if KCP and Suggs aren't available.

The veteran will likely bump Caleb Houstan back to the second unit. Before injuring his knee last week, Caldwell-Pope was enjoying his best stretch of the season with some hot outside shooting. However, with Paolo Banchero back in the lineup, Caldwell-Pope will have a reduced role on offense and may fall short of fantasy expectations.
