Chris Boucher DVOA, Advanced Stats, & Fantasy Rankings

Toronto Raptors forward/center Chris Boucher (illness) has been ruled out for Tuesday's contest against Orlando. This isn't a surprise, as Boucher is feeling under the weather and couldn't practice on Monday. He was listed as questionable on the initial injury report. With Boucher out of commission, Kelly Olynyk and Jonathan Mogbo should get extra work off the bench, but they have not been good fantasy options this season. Boucher will have his first chance to return on Thursday versus Atlanta.

It doesn't sound like too serious of an issue, so fantasy managers should consider Boucher as day-to-day right now. The absence of Boucher will probably mean increased playing time for Kelly Olynyk. The 33-year-old scored 15 points on Friday, but Olynyk hasn't been much of a fantasy option outside of that lately.

The 31-year-old was limited to 50 games last season due to a knee injury. Before that, Boucher was growing frustrated with his role on the team. Boucher has been a bench player each of the last two seasons and saw only 14.1 minutes per game in 2023. Boucher is unlikely to have a much bigger role in 2024 with Jakob Poeltl starting at center and Scottie Barnes covering the power forward spot. However, Boucher appears to be more accepting on his role and is ready to put in the work as a depth player.

Boucher suffered an injury during Saturday's game that was originally considered a knee contusion. After further testing, Boucher is dealing with a partially torn MCL in his right knee. The good news is, that Boucher probably won't need to have surgery, which means this injury shouldn't end his season. However, it's likely that Boucher does miss some time while he recovers from this injury. In the meantime, Jalen McDaniels and Jontay Porter should see additional minutes in the rotation.

The silver lining is that the 31-year-old has been able to suit up in both of the team's last two games, so it's unclear how severe the knee contusion is right now. Fantasy managers will want to check back after an hour or so before tipoff. If he's able to play, Boucher should get plenty of minutes since Jakob Poeltl (hand) is out indefinitely. In his last two games, Boucher has provided a solid amount of points, rebounds, threes, and blocks, so he could provide a good boost to managers who are in the fantasy playoffs. Kelly Olynyk and Jalen McDaniels will see more minutes if Boucher can't play though.
