Cleveland Cavaliers forward Max Strus (knee) was seen at the morning shootaround ahead of Monday's tilt versus the Chicago Bulls. Strus was held to just seven minutes of action in last Thursday's Paris win over the Brooklyn Nets due to soreness in his right knee, but the extra time off and his status at shootaround bode well for his chances of being available on Monday. The 27-year-old three-and-D wing is offering top-100 fantasy numbers in his first season with the Cavs as a full-time starter, playing in all 37 of their games while averaging 13.4 points, 4.9 rebounds, 3.8 assists, and 2.8 threes in 33.8 minutes. Sixth man Caris LeVert, who is already playing an augmented role with Darius Garland (jaw) on the shelf, would be in line for even more run potentially with the first unit if Strus is ultimately out on Monday, leaving behind additional minutes for the sharpshooting Sam Merrill with the reserves.

Miami Heat forward/center Kevin Love (knee) is out on Monday against the Brooklyn Nets and did not travel with the team ahead of the matchup. After missing Sunday's game as well, it places Love on the wrong side of questionable for Wednesday's contest against the Toronto Raptors due to a left knee contusion. The 35-year-old former All-Star is actually putting together one of his best seasons in terms of efficiency, turning in 10.1 points on 45.2% field-goal shooting, 6.7 rebounds, 2.6 assists, and 1.7 treys per game in 2023-24 during his first full year in South Beach, staying fantasy relevant due to Miami's perpetually banged-up rotation. If Jimmy Butler (toe) doesn't return for the Heat on Monday, more playing time would remain available for Nikola Jovic and Haywood Highsmith in the frontcourt.

Los Angeles Lakers guard D'Angelo Russell (illness), who was not seen at the morning shootaround, is questionable for Monday's Martin Luther King Jr. Day showdown versus the Oklahoma City Thunder. The Lakers say Russell will be re-evaluated pregame. If Russell's non-COVID illness prevents him from suiting up on Monday, it would be a tough break after he exploded for a season-high 39 points and six three-pointers with eight assists without LeBron James (ankle) in his return to the starting group during Saturday's road loss to the Utah Jazz following a seven-game period with the second unit. With James and Anthony Davis (ankle) also iffy to play, Austin Reaves might be particularly busy on Monday based on which of L.A.'s stars are available. Max Christie would also pick up additional minutes if Russell cannot give it a go.

Miami Heat forward Jaime Jaquez Jr. (groin) will not travel with the team on their two-game road trip that starts Monday against the Brooklyn Nets after exiting during the second quarter of Sunday's eventual win over the Charlotte Hornets due to a strained left groin. Though Jaquez doesn't believe this injury is as significant as the one he suffered in the preseason, it rules him out until Friday versus the Atlanta Hawks at the earliest. The versatile first-rounder out of UCLA has been remarkably consistent in his rookie season, notching double scoring figures in 29 of his past 32 games with averages of 15.8 points, 4.1 rebounds, 2.9 assists, 1.2 triples, and 1.1 steals since Nov. 8. The Heat hope to get Jimmy Butler (toe) back in the lineup on Monday, but Jaquez's minutes will be left to be shared by the likes of Duncan Robinson, Josh Richardson, and Caleb Martin for at least the next two contests.

Boston Celtics forward Jaylen Brown (knee), who was reportedly inactive during the morning shootaround, will not play in Monday's Martin Luther King Jr. Day game against the Toronto Raptors. Dealing with a hyperextended right knee, Brown should be considered day-to-day ahead of his next chance to suit up on Wednesday versus the San Antonio Spurs. The 27-year-old two-time All-Star is heating up over his last five games, averaging 29.6 points, 6.0 rebounds, 2.4 threes, and 2.2 assists in 32.7 minutes since Jan. 6. The Raptors have been forced to play smaller lineups with Jakob Poeltl (ankle) on the sidelines, so Sam Hauser might be a more likely replacement for Brown than Al Horford in Boston's starting five on Monday. Horford has been more productive as a starter this season, however, averaging 9.0 points, 7.7 boards, and 3.7 dimes across 14 games with the first unit.
